Yesterday after your research you said he was on $700K.

Now, it's $1.1M stated as a fact.

Hence the need for you to start wearing a bib.
I said yesterday he was on over $700k to the arguments on here claiming that he's on $600kish. He's not. He's on overs. Whatever his value was in 2019 (about $750-800k) plus a bit extra for the back-ended part is the value of his contract for next year.

Reckon Wade is excited about having a new client.
It’s a bother isn’t it! He’s one you just back the club in on I think, but as UP put it the language is very similar to Mitchell. Low risk potentially decent reward is how I’d view it. Pace is the question mark for me, but Ginnivan ain’t quick so who knows 🤷‍♂️

Jack Billings is from the cursed 2013 draft. We already tried Scharenberg, Aish and Freeman all in the top 10 picks. Why not try Billing’s the highest of them all at pick 3. Fourth times a charm 😉

Not sure if it's quite low risk. Reports I've read is that his remaining two years is substantially remunerated.

I only heard the end of something on sen about Brendan Bolton being chased by another club.

Haven't heard anymore about Dogs chasing Leppa.

Keep your hands off our coaches & Wade.

That would be a potential dealbreaker for me although it’s topical because there would have been that type of sentiment toward Mitchell as well. A similar type of deal for mid range picks with St Kilda picking up part of the tab could work if the cards fall that way. He’d need to be fit though…

I just don't get the Mitchell trade.

You're positioning it as a salary dump, but if you believe the rumours about how much they were paying of the one year left on his Hawthorn contract, they didn't dump any excess salary and we didn't take on any excess salary. We actually got that year of Mitchell's Hawthorn contract at an awesome bargain according to the rumours.
Where did I say it was a salary dump? They chipped in on Mitchell’s salary as a sweetener to get him out the door. He was unwanted at Hawthorn. It’s not rocket science.
It was and is a head scratcher for me. Maybe it was Hawthorn being nuts, but with their history of being so well run it makes me question how much a bloke like that is worth in the AFL trade market and Adams is a bloke like that.
It’s a head scratcher to me why it’s a head scratcher to you tbh. The only similarities between Mitchell and Adams are the types of players they are. In terms of trade circumstance, it’s apples and oranges, and that’s what counts here.

Welcome to Collingwood Jack Billings

For the low key dude GW is that’s a strong statement.

Seems a very Higgins-like acquisition target. I wonder if Wade can get him on the park more consistently and playing his best…

Beams was rated in the top 10 players in the league the year before his return according to coaches. While an important cog for us, not sure Adams is that highly rated. Late 1st or early 2nd seems about right.
That’s not my point who is better, the fact that Beams was on the wrong side of his career, so never worth 2 first round picks we paid overs cause of Brisbanes’s negotiation ability.

Sydney rumoured to have approached Adams at the end of 2022 so seems it’s been brewing for a while.

If that's true and he was essentially going to most likely leave regardless of whether he played in the GF or not, then I feel way less bad that he missed out.

Not that I felt overly bad to begin with (would be disingenuous of me given how many times this year I've called for him to be dropped)

Billings is a slow hack, don’t know what we see in him

Really wish we'd stop doing this. Especially in the McRae/Wright era.

I'll say it again...until proven otherwise, I'm willing to back the football department's judgement on players we plan to bring in.

Yeah, we're not going to nail every single one of them, but they've done pretty well thus far.

The only two players most here would almost unanimously agree were "misses" are Dean and Kreuger and in both those cases, the players have been ridiculously injury plagued and both haven't had a genuine opportunity to show their wares.

Dean's not even a miss yet. He's only 22. Plenty of footy left in him yet and his latest VFL game was a really strong performance.

I recall an article on billings where he mentioned that he had catch ups with pendles …. Came across like pendles was mentoring him to a point … for low cost / pick could be a good gamble … would trust wade to get him up and running ….

We are completely guessing at that. The more likely scenario seems like he wasn't going to get an additional two years at Collingwood that Sydney were offering him, and he took it so he could lock in an extra 1.4-1.6m over those two years... that's a pretty simple decision if you ask me.
I think it’s been reported here the 3rd year has triggers - so it’s not guaranteed.

Ginnivin not quick is more reason to add pace not go again

Even if it was $1m, I’m not sure how it changes anything? This is a player the Swans are actively chasing, it’s not like we’re trying to push him out. His current salary is irrelevant under the circumstances.

Whatever it is, the Swans will be able to smooth it out over the 3 years of their deal so as you say, not really relevant to trade discussions. Interesting in terms of our TPP and who we can potentially target over the next couple of years though if he does leave.

If he comes across for a future third, sure.

Some wrote off Frampton, Hill, McStay, Mitchell. All of them were critical in finals and most became premiership players.
