Would you rate Schultz pick 8 in this year's draft because thats around the points value of 18 and 33. Interesting to see what our recruiters have up their sleeve because they gave us a flag and now are intent on improving the list.

Remember when that smug prick Goodwin in the KB presser tried to throw shade at us by saying how much more Grundy is valued at Melbourne than he was at Collingwood ?

Well they got more value out of him in a trade than us! Maybe that's what he meant.

I think you can raise the “alright” level a fair bit higher

maybe, but do not forget he came when we stuffed up everything so expectation was very low.

If we get another flag next season I will be a firm believer.

We don't need to take 5 players from the ND - we've been very successful getting mature players via the Rookie Draft, SSP and MSD - happy to leave some spots for those drafts.

Our drafting is poor because we're only left with late picks after not getting full value in trades.

actually based on the history, Dekka seems to have a better strike rate with late(r) picks. it's the 15-40 range that seem to suck (technical term).

Can you please Stop using points to validate a position?

They are absolutely meaningless if you have no need for them.

If that’s the case, we should load on 41-49 and just give them to Freo…that’s probably worth pick 1!

On the face of it pick 33 is average return for a bloke who's contracted. But, if it takes the whole salary off our books then it's probably worth it.

Pick 44 and what most people would expect to be another pick in the early/mid 30’s isn’t exactly an increase in value. Regardless, let’s hope whoever they get with those picks are busts

Brodie has already updated his insta. He probably just wants to move on ASAP from the nightmare of the past two years.

I do feel a bit sorry for him. Contract aside, he joined Collingwood as a baby and gave us years of good memories and also hope for the future. Always a Collingwood person in my eyes. The last 2 years have been a absolute write off. Constantly having his salary discussed in the public, injuries, devalued by two clubs, relegated to the VFL. Hope his stint at the Swans is a bit more stable.

Hill was pick 24

Lipinski was pick 28

McCreery was pick 44

Howe was pick 33

Cameron was pick 48

Markov was pick 50

Then there's Ginni, Crisp, Cox, Mihocek and probably others I'm forgetting that came from the Rookie draft.


That's half of our 2023 premiership team coming outside pick 20 and outside the National Draft......

Compare this to our GF opponent who were stacked with high picks. Plus we arent using our full cap and no monster key forward. Makes our win more impressive. I've been banging on about this to non-Collingwood mates and they have nothing to say.

Not really. We've traded a lot of them out. But he's had some great hits in that range including Beams, Grundy, Maynard, Murphy. Not easy to get multi BnF winners and AA players

Trade was fine IMO. Not going to win/lose anything by haggling over picks we don’t care about.

Using points to work out worth is never accurate. Would you trade pick 8 for pick 18 and 33? We wouldnt get pick 14 for those two picks.

Difference is that we had a salary cap crisis and desperately needed him off the books, hence the low return ans paying some of his contract.

So I guess we can offer pick 33 to Freo for contracted Schultz but if we take the whole of his salary it'll be worth it for them?
