What a great day and great get - 50-75% of something always better than 100% of nothing (Scharenberg Freeman etc) - and still 2.5 days to get more! Starting with Billings…but as mentioned I would go hard for 199cm 95kg Howard first…
Is Howard significantly better then Frampton?

Lol no because I don’t wanna be paying a park average footballer $750k X 5

Is that how much they're offering him? FMD Source?

If that figure isn't accurate I could see us having a look at him at a lower price if Geelong didn't reach an agreement with Port and Murphy retired between now and the national draft.

Even if we had no interest the thought of trolling Mackie over the next few days with a declaration we'll consider him at pick 19 if no deal is reached is almost to good to pass up.

Im still pretty worried about our mids. I think it remains a gap for us, despite the great finals performance.

It seems we will go hard for back to back next year, but we may be due for a little breather after that when pendles and sidey and howey retire, and we have no early picks.
Nick's inside game is going to be as good as his outside game. His hands and vision are just batshit crazy good.

Prior to his last half dozen games, he was only just plodding
Same formline as Bobby Hill before we got him across. Much prefer going after more of these low cost high upside trades than betting big on a proven quality that still ultimately ends up being a role player rather than a genuine gamechanger

If Ratogolea gets walked to the National Draft by Port would you use pick 19 (ends up being 24) on him ?
No, he won't sign a contract with anyone but port, then the pick is burned. Besides he's a bang average player who gets found out in big games, plays vfl when geelongs fit and heathy (which is why im so confused they are driving such a hard bargain for him)

I wouldn't mind Jack Billings for the right price. Potentially pick 39

We’ve finished top 4 in 4 of the past 6 seasons and with the addition of Schultz offsetting the loss of Adams I’m hard pressed seeing us outside the top 4 in 2024 which leaves the pick 20+ after FA, NGA and FS. That’s about fair when 33 is thrown in on top.

I suspect the angst is purely about getting a “win”and our past history trading future 1sts. The L for me is our 2024 trade hand took a significant hit, but jeez we’ve just landed the best player available in the trade period so I’ll console myself with that and replays of the 2023 GF.

I didn't read the lead up posts for context on your post, thought it was more along the lines of from what you are told/know its not a great draft.

Just like the description of the last 3 drafts including this one.
This time last year 2023 was a superdraft that every club wanted to hold their picks for.

All eyes on ginnivan now.

I think clubs will ask the question

And if he asks to be traded then the club is better off seeking a young tall defender rather than a pick imo

Cause our current pick 19 probably excludes us from O’Sullivan and Murphy on draft night… and we no longer have a future first to trade in order to go higher up the draft
Trade him to Freo for THEIR future 1st.

Todd Marshall is our FA target for end of 2024

Schultz helps further turn our major weakness into a major strength. We have won a flag, our forward line was the best it's been in 23 for a long time and we have added a serious goal kicker to the mix. We have depth ++

Our forward line will be improved in 24 howszat
Absolutely. Our F50 is now full of threats.
