One thing is for sure, we aren’t a club who dallies around for picks and sweeteners etc like some other list bosses do aka SOS, Mackie etc.

We seem to not overly worry too much as back ourselves in to find players at any pick or via any stream be or draft, trade, FA, SSP, mid season etc.

We won a flag paying two players at other clubs when it was all doom and gloom post 2020.

We still have a first and second rounder this year to take in the national draft too so I’m backing them in again to find a player for the future too.

And our P80 will effectively be a 3rd round pick - should we want to use it

So Fremantle wanted a future first round pick rather than this year’s first round pick,thinking that we’re going to slide next year.How bloody rude..Opposition clubs shave been under estimating us for two years now and they’re still doing it.

As long as we don't do what happened with treloar.

Pick 7 and future first banking on us being top 8 following season and we instead finished bottom 8.

Freo have played it smart our current first will be what 23 or 24 by our selection, that's a known poor "first round" pick.
They might as well take a gamble that we slide next year given we can't go any further up.
Either it stay similar or the pick improves the further we drop.

Should we celebrate too hard or older players fall away too much, and have a "premiership hangover" this deal won't look to good in hindsight.

We're going to save money on the SC with Adams gone and replaced him with pure speed, goal sense and game nous. Schultz will be much more damaging by foot and decision making than Adams. We are still in the window and Schultz takes our forward line to another level again. Schultz will also be around for at least the next 5 years which is probably longer than a future first will play, especially with all the draft concessions going around. I think we well and truly won this trade

It's a very good start. I wish we'd got a jump on adding that depth with the resources we just used on Schultz.

TBH, I probably would have done similar - banked the cap, held future picks and tried to trade pick 19 into next year during the draft if anyone was keen enough in order to target a genuine hole down the track.

But I'm saying that without any real idea of how good Lachie Schultz, whether we rate his salary as under or over or of the likelihood of being able to fill future holes that way.

Midfield future isn't as dire as some think. JDG and Nick are going to be one hell of a pairing for the next 5+ years.

We just need Allan and Macrae to step up and become regulars next year.

It was bad enough that Schultz had become the best player in the AFL in the media this last week

The fact that he's now on our own board walking into Collingwood as better than a Norm Smith Medallist is just...wow lol

I'm at the point where I hope we just walk away now because this is getting ridiculous.

Whether he’s better than Hill is something we’ll find out in 2024, but to date he’s been top 5-6 in the last 2 Freo B&Fs, so he’s no mug.

Happy with the Shultz trade we paid a decent price but that's what happens when you win the flag any decent player cots you a little more but very happy to have another high pressure forward that hits the score board he will make us better suits out gameplan perfectly
