True. What I'm saying is that it's about Fly convincing one of them to join.
Trust me, one or both will do multiple interviews on their next journey.
Normal which is encouraged from their player Managers.
If we want either of them they will do a sit down with Fly. 100% guaranteed
The buzz around the place would be irresistible at the moment. King would have to be weighing up joining the ride or sticking loyal to the soulless entity up there surely

He could also be weighing up AFL inducements to stay with Gold Coast - the longer he draws his contract situation out, the higher any inducements are likely to be.

I'd be surprised if the AFL doesn't have a view internally on the situation, or if it isn't seeking to influence the decision somehow.

King already saying he wants to stay.
Parish next best.
Both gettable from a good Fly interview with them.
We are a destination club now.
Treloar loudly declared he wanted to stay at GWS the year we poached him.

It means nothing until he signs an extension.

Good player. He's worth a 5 year contract - at less than Moore and Jordy, but equal to the next highest. God knows what that figure is or whether he'd take a better offer elsewhere.
You’d expect He will get offers over 800k due to the FA tax. Clubs with cash like north, hawks even. Then obviously parish potentially takes a discount for a team in the window. I doubt we’d be in the running tbh because I agree, we ain’t paying him more than Degoey who’s on about 800ish

Don’t spend the money on Parish.
We would be wasting it like we did on Trelaor
Spend it more wisely

Parish only cost us money.

Treloar cost us 2x 1st Rounders plus what we gave the Dogs to take him.

If we can get Parish it’s a no brainer.

He’s seriously come on in the last few years. Essendon dropping off will help make him itchy.

You can’t make this s**t up 😂
Probably need to wait until at least one of their blokes is any good before cursing their luck. At the moment we're miles ahead in the luck factor with the two best players of the season being our father sons.

Would be hard for king not to come back to Victoria or stay up the Gold coast would be hard to say no playing for us Infront of 80.000 at the MCG finals possible flags or stay up there and play to crowds of 10.000. I think Lynch is more then happy with his move to Richmond. He was Saints mad might end up with his brother.

I really want to go after Himmelberg and Parish but they’ll come at a cost and leave the club hamstrung.

We should be going after the cheaper role players such as Flanders, Sweet, Fiorini and Amartey.

I think Sweet would be a great pick up (couldn't bring myself to say a sweet pick up) espicially when looking at the age demographic of our rucks. Mason will be 33 next year and DC14 will be 28 at round 1 next year, which while still fairly standard age for a ruck, could cause us a few headaches if one or both go down with injury like this year. Sweet will be 26 at R1 2024 and shown some really good ability to play a ruck role at AFL level when given the chance.

Even beyond 2024 - a ruck combo of Sweet as the primary ruck with DC14 spending a bit of time forward and alternating through the ruck is an exciting prospect.

Young Steene is the other option but at 19 and very raw might still be a number of years away.

Yep doggies will have in 2024:
Old:
  • Liam Jones, 33yo, 199cm, 98kg
  • Alex Keath, 32yo, 198cm, 93kg (Retire?)
  • Rory Lobb 31yo, 207cm, 106kg
  • Josh Bruce, 31yo, 199cm, 102kg
Future:
  • Tim English 26yo, 208cm, 107kg
  • Aaron Naughton, 24yo, 196cm, 92kg
  • Jamarra Ugle-Hagan 22yo, 197cm, 91kg
  • Sam Darcy, 20yo, 208cm, 98kg
  • Jed Busslinger 20yo, 198cm, 85kg
  • Jordan Croft (F&S) 19yo, 200cm, 80kg
Would love to pry Naughton or JUH away from them.

Of that group, Naughton is the one for me as he has form on the board.

Ugle-Hagan is also an excellent player, however less flexible and yet to reach the level of consistency that Naughton has (albeit he's 2 years younger).

Although it seems a good problem to have, it would be interesting to know how much a potential father/son prospect is talked up by reason of their familial connections and how this affects the drafting decisions made by certain clubs.

i.e. we passed on Weideman and Stewart in previous drafts - would the position be the same today?

Weiderman was a grandfather/grandson not father/son wasn't he.

We didn't pass on Weideman, we didn't have access to him, and Dees took him with a pick before we had one.
