You'd be quite surprised about what floats around AFL circles. It's a small industry, people talk. Swoop Luke is fed info from journalists and people who are close. The account is the third best AFL-centric one, behind Caden and AFL Central. Franklin leaving Hawthorn was an open season. They even got the state right, but not the team.

Bailey Smith's contract is a huge deal so conversations have begun early. Publicly, this will be all "wait and see" but behind closed doors, those discussions are well and truly under way. Smith wants to win a flag and the Dogs have one last tilt at it this year before their stars walk out.

1. He may have some intel but from what I’ve seen swoop Luke just summarises forum talk into convenient sound bites… one of my friends follows him cause he doesn’t have the time to trawl through pages disseminating it all. Good on him but I think Jen has more inside intel though

2. The dogs will sign everyone but smith… they can’t fit them all in. Smith is the one they’ll willingly but begrudgingly lose

And he’ll walk for the better deal and guaranteed centre square minutes he won’t get at the dogs

Just my thoughts on it

Hmmm, prime land? Most of the grounds are on a flood plain underneath a freeway.

Who knows, that was just a quote from an article in the HS.

And then there's this :

IMO, next off season is really important for our list.
I had hoped that we could keep our 1st rounder to use as part of a process to bring in 1-2 young(ish) quality mids.
Not having our first may limit some of our moves unless we are able to trade in picks (somehow)
Had been hoping for 1-2 of Smith / Callaghan / Holmes (or another that we rate but hasn't cracked the line up at another club)
Bringing in mids to support Naicos and hopefully at least 1 of Allan / Reef etc is why I was disappointed we didn't land Logan Morris as a developing KPF (Checkers replacement) that they could kick it to.

I wasn hoping we’d hold onto it too. One for Holmes and one for Smith.

Even look at Clarke for a second.

From my understanding Callaghan loves Kingsley and is likely to stay.

I've heard JUH is out the door, too. A lot depends on how whacky their selection is and whether the players see a future.

Sanders arriving at the Dogs does not help Smith. He's AFL ready and probably debuts round one. I don't know why people said he wasn't a freak athlete when he's at playing weight and can run. Sanders will get the hype and the ball at the Dogs - you can see it coming.

Gee Holmes and Smith would be massive gets if this was to come to fruition end of 2024.
Very challenging on how we would get both deals done...

Would be tough. But I think Holmes is now closer to re-signing with Geelong than what he was in the latter part of the season.

But we have had a fair crack.

I find it interesting St Kevin’s has ceased affiliation with the Catholic Church. Now it’s just a private school, not a Catholic school.

What would Kevin think?

It means something when they are on the tram together singing songs demeaning to women or otherwise generating bad publicity for the school. Single sex male schools are not the greatest of environments in my opinion, speaking from experience.
Not all the boys on that tram were singing. Just a few dickheads giving the school a bad name.

I always see St Kevins boys at melbourne central for lunch haha

My boys went StKns, think l mentioned back before draft, intel from some high credential VAFA boys say SS floats around the back and is an interceptor with good skills but short of being AFL talent, guess we’ll see

For me it’s, Eyre, Teakle and Sullivan.

Bailey Smith ACL ruptured. Get him ready for 2025.

If Pies get him it’ll be at a significant discount now then before

Not good to see any player get injured, but to be honest it should work out great if we are really keen (which I hope we are) given our limited trade capital.

Future first. Deal done.

Should be right to go first round of 2025.

Personally I wouldn't go near Bailey Smith, especially now

Some really piss poor comments in this thread!!

Wtf are the comments about getting smith cheap?!?
Plenty of players have come back fine from ACL.

Just let him recover. If he stays a bulldog, all good.

Stop being seagulls!!!
I agree. Seeing supporters relish another player's injury for any reason is really poor form, imo.
