Swoop Luke who seems to get his info well sourced
Swoop Luke has no sources. Neither does anyone else on this, because the decision won't have been made yet.

Predicting something that already has a 50% chance of happening doesn't retroactively validate claims that you have sources.

My source tells me that you may or may not be right.

Lies, Pies Source is 100% right, 100% of the time. Just ask him.

Still too early to say who will get a spot. I know it's exciting to watch and read about prospects (NFL pre-season is something else!). Will a spot be left for the MSD? Does best available always trump biggest need?
There are pros and cons for the six current SSP guys. One advantage would be if a player has been in the AFL system.

You'd be quite surprised about what floats around AFL circles. It's a small industry, people talk. Swoop Luke is fed info from journalists and people who are close. The account is the third best AFL-centric one, behind Caden and AFL Central. Franklin leaving Hawthorn was an open season. They even got the state right, but not the team.

Bailey Smith's contract is a huge deal so conversations have begun early. Publicly, this will be all "wait and see" but behind closed doors, those discussions are well and truly under way. Smith wants to win a flag and the Dogs have one last tilt at it this year before their stars walk out.

We will leave a spot open for the MSD from what Hine said. That could change.

It depends on needs vs best available. But generally, trade in what you need, recruit best available provided you don't do a North Melbourne and end up with 40 midfielders.

Three players have been in the system (Eyre [Essendon], Teakle [Port Adelaide], Bytel [St Kilda]), one for our VFL side (Hustwaite) and two with no AFL or Collingwood VFL experience (Sofrinidis [VAFA] and Williams [Footscray]).

Yep you aren't wrong but Sofronidis*** (sorry) has VFL experience as well, before covid hit and he decided to call it. Have a read:

True, I know this. Was posting more for the "it will definitely be player x, and maybe y and z".

I'll be over the moon if he gets picked up, Shows that anyone can make it if they are good enough, regardless of circumstances.

On Sullivan, i think he was lead to believe a club(s) was going to take him then backflipped. As we've seen Dogs aren't afraid to promote from within so im shocked they haven't picked him up yet or asked him to train. Saw something about that he went to/played for St Kevins and could potentially be a red flag given St kevs being in the news, thats a joke, a fair chunk of vic drafted players would have gone there and loads more to come, means nothing at all.

Jordy went to st kevins. I think we have a few on our list that did.
Means nothing.

Lol, no doubt JDG's past indiscretions are the reason St.Kevin's was brought up, not to mention ..

"St Kevin's, where a place from years 5-12 costs $21,000 a year, has been plagued by misogyny, homophobia and transphobia in recent years..."

It means something when they are on the tram together singing songs demeaning to women or otherwise generating bad publicity for the school. Single sex male schools are not the greatest of environments in my opinion, speaking from experience.

Most were on scholarships for football. If Xavier or Brighton offered a scholarship, they’d have probably taken it. St Kev’s makes headlines, so do other schools. It’s not a drama. There’s one relatively unheard of football school out there that has produced a few idiotic samples. I went through the place and not every graduate is problematic.

He’s an electrician now and 26. So if he’s still clutching onto his days at Kev’s and wants to be toxic, it would explain why he’s not on a list.

that confirms Adams knew all along he was leaving. I have no issue with that but at least be honest and tell the club.
Nothing was confirmed about him leaving. It just confirms that he was fielding interest, if things didn’t change and he remained out of the coaches’ midfield plans. There could’ve been no takers to meet his needs, or things could’ve turned and he might’ve been able to win favour again, and share coal face duties with Mitchell.

Not sure what all the continued angst is here. The coaches subtly didn’t see him as a first choice mid, and wanted other players to step up or step in. He didn’t want to be relegated to second string / part time mid, so explored options and eventually found a team who have committed to giving him that opp.

Both sides are relatively happy with the outcome… save for the dent to his ego, and genuine frustration / sadness at not being able to join the boys in premiership glory…

I find it interesting St Kevin’s has ceased affiliation with the Catholic Church. Now it’s just a private school, not a Catholic school.
No, lol. It's still very much a Catholic school.

'An upmarket Catholic school will break ties with the Christian Brothers movement next month, taking with it $200 million dollars of prime land. St Kevin's College in Toorak, Melbourne, has won the right to become an independent school from December 1.'

Hmmm, prime land? Most of the grounds are on a flood plain underneath a freeway.
