So the plan is to draft no KPP talent this year or next. In 2026 Mihocek shall be retired, Moore, Cameron and McStay 30, Frampton 29.

Our young ‘depth players’ are virtually untried and worth zilch on the trade table.
The way I look at it is that given our draft hand and where we expect to finish next year - high quality KPP will probably be out of our reach via the draft anyway. 19/38 packaged together might get us in the low teens this year, or traded together for a lower future first pick in 2024

I would suspect we are one of the few clubs in the market for an already established KPP next year such as a Jamara or Ben King.

I do agree with you that KPP depth and developing talls are important - but imo we just wouldn’t/don’t have the draft hand to be targeting anything of quality to begin with

Annoyed we’ve used our future first.

I fear we never learn from our mistakes.
I heard the trade drop while I was working but haven’t been online until now, only missed 10 pages of what I assume are about 60% melts over paying too much.

At the end of the day I think his worth was our first and probably pick 38. Assuming we don’t slide like Geelong, if we finish top 4 we’ve probably paid slightly overs. If we finish top 2 we can all have a good laugh, as our first rounder will be worth less than this years with how compromised next years draft looks at the top end.

My major fear is a Geelong type slide though. All it takes is a couple of injuries to some key players and suddenly you’re staring down the barrel of missing finals with how even the comp is becoming. Trading future firsts never seems to end well for us 😵‍💫

So Fremantle wanted a future first round pick rather than this year’s first round pick, thinking that we’re going to slide next year. How bloody rude..😵‍💫Opposition clubs shave been under estimating us for two years now and they’re still doing it.🥹

It is more we wanted the future pick to bid on Logan McDonald who's OOC next year.

We just need Allan and Macrae to step up and become regulars next year.
First time poster here. Have loved following you more experienced posters here during the dream season!!

Regarding our midfield, I reckon McCreery is the key addition into the guts. He’s the prototype midfielder - strong, fast, loves physical contact. Good decision maker. Could play inside or outside. Imagine a group of him, Daicos, JDG, McCrae rolling through…

Hyperbole. Obviously there has to be a limit on what you’re prepared to pay to get “the player we have targeted”. I’m not suggesting we exceeded that, only that we seem to pay a premium that no-one else does.

Agree there is a limit, but BF posters ascribing an arbitrary limit that’s above or below what we actually spent doesn’t make them Wright.

Schultz is a very good and important get. We needed to replace Adams and soon, Elliott. He's much closer to Elliott than any others on our list. Small forwards are very important in our game plan and Schultz is also capable up the ground.

We did pay a little overs and trading a future first is always a risk. If we do somehow miss the 8 I hope we finally get the message. We should be ok and finish top 4 or better, but it is an even comp.

I think the cats lacked a bit of hunger after their flag success. We may suffer the same fate, but the coaches will be all over any premiership hangovers

I really don't think we'll have a Geelong-level fall-off. We've got youth that is decent in the VFL. We can still add more pieces. Just remain competitive, remain fit and we'll be right. Pendles and Sidey to be managed throughout the year.
The big difference is that their oldies were their best players, whereas Moore and Jordy should still be at their peak for a while and Nick isn't even there yet.

I’ve got no doubt he will make us better. Why did we add pick 33 to it?

Downgrading the age profile of the list is important. The Premiership team had 10 players over 30
That starts next year when we'll likely see WHE, Sidey and Howe retire. Pendles may leave, too.

We have cap space for next year. We have state leagues/mature agers. Not too concerned, really.

Agree - so this year it has been smart business to act on two that have presented themselves to us.
