I would love him, but I think he'd cost a bomb.
He'd be worth it. Not many forwards of any type with Papley's production.

Agree. I think he creates more goals from balls in dispute than anyone else in the league. He'd be worth it. Not many forwards of any type with Papley's production.

It's only a year away that we'd have to start making a play, maybe sooner - not really sure how it works. Personally, I'd be saving money for a couple more years until we have more idea about what we've got and thus what we need to fill. The end of the 2023 season seems such a long long time from now. Hopefully those small forwards we already have on board get to something like his production and he becomes unnecessary.
I just missed the start of what they were saying about Logan McDonald on SEN. Sounded like his manager may have had a healthy offer from a rival club, and they're assuming it's either WCE or Fremantle.
I'm just imagining (hoping) Wrighty's sitting there smug AF rn
Edit just saw someone has supposedly offered him 10 years the Swans would want 4 first rounders from any club publicly that keen.
Maybe Wrighty still salty about Sydney offering Buddy a similar deal...
10 years is a ridiculous length of a deal. You can't keep that commitment. I believe McDonald will move but whether Collingwood has the coin is another reason.10 years!!!.....Surely, if true, that would have to be coming from either WC or Freo, more likely WC, as the replacement for Kennedy, considering McDonald is from WA.
It was just a suggestion. I'd like to see it done again but understand the hesitation.I don't get why someone would want to shift Moore back after he just locked down a King.
What if he got injured? Hope he doesn't but he could be on your list for five years sitting in the forward pocket of his living room because he injures his knee really badly. Now, that probably won't happen and I hope for his sake it doesn't, but that's why a 10 year deal is pretty dumb.10 years is seriously delusional and I hope it isn’t us (not that I think it is) to put that much pressure on a kid that has talent but hasn’t set the world on fire yet is crazy.
Has Tom Boyd MKII written all over it (from a pressure perspective, not talent)10 years is seriously delusional and I hope it isn’t us (not that I think it is) to put that much pressure on a kid that has talent but hasn’t set the world on fire yet is crazy.
Can’t see Wright breaking the Hawthorn mantra of no more than 5 years, so if it’s a 10 year deal it isn’t us.
Hewitt? Hannebery? They almost lost Parker last year and Papley the year before. I actually think the Swans are close to the best in the business at identifying the right ones to sacrifice.Guess it’s kinda irrelevant now hey? Sydney don’t lose many!
Minimum chips? Because Cox ain’t on $500k
Minimum chips? Because Cox ain’t on $500k anymore
As I've said before, we get cheap service from a bloke who gives his all, gets a few good headlines each year and can turn it on. People may not like him but he's done more good for the club than JDG.
But we were in the process of dumping Treloar, Stepho and Phillips because our cap was stuffed. We couldn't have afforded him.He was on a different contract when Brown came up for trade. Brown isn't on big dollars now himself iirc
Hence why I suggested moving another player on. And please don't remind me I tried to put that in my forget pile. But we were in the process of dumping Treloar, Stepho and Phillips because our cap was stuffed. We couldn't have afforded him.
The thing that doesn't quite add up about that whole episode is that we supposedly made a significant offer to Gunston and a mid - can't remember which mid.Hence why I suggested moving another player on. And please don't remind me I tried to put that in my forget pile.

I don’t think it’s about whether he wants to stay or not. He’s just backing himself to be worth a lot more by the end of 2024, hence why he wasn’t enamoured by the 4 year deal on offer.Only a 2 year extension for McDonald.
Doesn’t say to me he will stay at the swans long term… in fact the opposite, says to me he sees himself dramatically upping his value in the next two years, then he’ll look for the longer term contract
FWIW n daicos is already contracted until 2025, signed a 4 year deal before we even drafted him. Pretty sure we do have to sign up the others like henry, reef etc.And I doubt we have the salary cap.
Resigning Moore, Maynard and potentially De Goey as reports indicate… will erode some of the cap gains from last year’s retirements and delistings.
Then there are another 20 off players out of contract at years end… some of whom like Henry and Ginnivan… will likely get a pay rise
Then you’ve got the likelihood that they will go early and later this season sign Nick Daicos to an decent 3-5 year deal extension commencing 2024 when his current deal expires
I can’t see there being big money for any free agents this year
