The thing that doesn't quite add up about that whole episode is that we supposedly made a significant offer to Gunston and a mid - can't remember which mid.

We were supposedly into Kreuger and Cameron too… My guess is managers were using us as leverage not realising just how bad our cap situation was.

FWIW I have my doubts on Brown for us. I think he would have struggled badly in 2021 because he didn’t get himself match fit until late season when we were cooked. It might have been a different story this year, but I can say with absolute certainty that he’d have been on the nose exiting 2021 if he made his way to the AIA centre.

So Sydney offered McDonald a modest 4 year deal which I can only assume is the same p/a total which he has signed for 2 years on. Backing himself in to perform for his next contract.

At least now I don't have to spend the whole year wondering whether we're going to trade our first rounder for him

I'd be looking at some GCS talent or looking for state league talent. If we play our cards right, we could find another Mihocek and another Dean or Noble hanging around and we'll be in the goods.

Kids in Victoria haven't had a lot of exposure so they're risky. Kids in the WAFL, SANFL, etc who are 23-25 have had heaps of time to mature. Few mature agers could rejuvenate our list.
