Have it on decent authority Collingwood are closely monitoring Brisbane's Blake Coleman.

Pretty far off getting a game in Brisbane I think, and have been concerns re fitness. In fairness to him - has been a shocking time to enter the competition and did get covid in the off-season which has affected him.

Will he leave home and the opportunity to play with his brother to move interstate?

Not Playing AFL where we tell him he is a Good Chance to at Collingwood.

Bit like Lipinski last year

Sydney are really building something nice atm I'm not surprised McDonald wanted to stay.
have had some massive wins from their Academy allowances... plus draft compensation. And all flying under the media radar. AFL would be absolutely tickled pink about their situation right now...

Andy D's handover notes to Gill... "Sydney: they must never fall out of the eight..."

Of course the AFL are tickled pink about the situation they engineered it from start to finish.

Just another act in the play.

In under a generation's time there will be scripts.

Pat was 23, played senior footy, wanted more opportunity and as a dog only lived around the corner.
Coleman is 19, only completed one season, yet to play a game and will be a few thousand Klms from home & family. Plus the opportunity to play alongside his brother on his home turf would be huge I suspect.

As they don't want the Northern Teams to Suck then next to no one would care up there

competition time... what is the AFL's ideal finishing 8. My stab:

Gold Coast
GWS
Brisbane
Sydney
North Melbourne
Fremantle
St Kilda
Melbourne
Western Bulldogs
Hawthorn
Port Adelaide
Adelaide
Geelong
Richmond
Carlton
Essendon
West Coast
Collingwood

As much as growing the game is high on the agenda the AFL also want to balance that with viewership and bums on seats. This ladder would be an absolute disaster on that front! Their ideal scenario would be at least one club from each state (preferably Adelaide and WC out west) with the balance made up from the “big 4”.

No it really is nothing like Lipinski’s situation.

bums on seats are great, but pies fans turn up no matter what, as do WC and Adelaide supporters, with almost all seats sold before the season starts.

The survival of the poor teams & the multi billion dollar tv rights are more important, predicated on an 18 team competition.... and evidenced by the billions of dollars that theyve pumped into propping up the expansion and poorer teams

I’m out because you clearly don’t understand footy economics. Before I leave you to it though I’ll give you the tip, we aren’t one of the big 4 head office wants up and about. Carlton and Essendon going deep into September over the next 18 months is Auld’s wet dream.

Joel Amartey kicked the first two for the swans in the VFL

Was keen on him last year… has the size, great athleticism…

and 22 year old Vic boy who won’t get a game up front at the swans any time soon
We’ve sparred before over these fringe tall types, but he’s one I’d get behind. As a FWD/ruck he’s got something about him and I feel just needs the opportunity in a role like Cox will fill this year. I think he’s a fair way back at Sydney too with McDonald, McLean and Ladhams all in front of him.

Might be an option as well as hitting the draft pointy end for a bonafied KPF prospect.

And what’s more it’s a pertinent need.

the pies have Cox, Roughead over 30…

Mihocek late 20s. Moore and Cameron in their mid 20s

And only Krueger, Dean Kelly, Begg, McMahon in that developing under 25 group….

most of whom are speculative and unlikely to make it long term

Fit in at Collingwood as Chocked in the U-18 Tac Cup Grand Final he played in

Kreuger was Good in Pre-Season and I hearing some Really Promising things about Begg as well

Yeah I could be tempted, particularly if we lock down Checkers and Kreuger as key forwards this year.

Amartey could replace Cox potentially with Begg and Cameron in reserve.

I tend to think Cameron might be considered our 2nd Number 1 ruck now rather than a forward.
