Where did you hear this, would be a much better investment than any of the others we’ve been linked to.
Collingwood are interested in GWS pair Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper and are is likely to bring in free agent Daniel McStay on a five-year deal worth about $600,000 a year as well as Giants small forward and flanker Bobby Hill. The scope to bring in players on significant contract terms would hinge on Grundy leaving.

With Richmond firming as the likely option for Taranto, sources have said Collingwood have increased their interest in Hopper, who missed most of this year with a knee injury, and discussed Mitchell, whom Magpies coach Craig McRae worked with when he was an assistant at Hawthorn.

Already dreading the torturous experience listening to trade radio this year, knowing we will be busy as hell, and I won't able to turn it off no matter how much i want to.

I bet we don't land either Hopper (Geelong) or Tarranto (Rich). Both reporting as favoured clubs.

Should look at Bruhn as a younger mid to pair with N.Daicos.

Best not to turn it on in the first place. Listen to PBS instead.

Just this once I’d love us to pull off a real trade coup (old/broken Tom Mitchell doesn’t count). A Dangerfield, Franklin, J.Cameron, Tom Lynch, Lachie Neal type of coup.

We really haven’t landed one since Buckley and Ant Rocca. That was a looooong time ago.

With McRae and wright at the helm, will we finally be seen as a destination club?

Those clubs went to Harrods for their recruits. This off season we are shopping at St Vinnies op shop. :p

Seems we’ve missed Taranto given we’re now looking at other options. Would have been handy to have another clearance mid who can go forward. McInnes has the potential to fill that role down the track though.

Mitchell seems more his management sounding out other clubs rather than as chasing him. Was Jolly the last we got in a similar manner?

Would be handy and a good fit, but for mine at 29 either the hawks would need to pay a significant amount of his reported 800k in ‘23 or he’d need to sacrifice dollars.

Maybe the fact that we are right in the premiership window and Mitchell is exactly what we need to help us achieve that, while at the same time we continue to develop our midfield while he's there and extend our premiership window by another 5 years

Mitchell would be good as a stop gap under the right deal
If Hawks pay a big chunk of his salary it helps our cap dilemma
He would be a great mentor for McRae who could really develop his inside work
We definitely need some help at centre bounces and he can feed a hand pass to the Daicos’, Pendlebury and DeGoey.

Obviously Mitchell doesn’t have the same issues, but the same was said about Beams in 2018. The less said about how much mess that created for our cap the better.

We only have to take on his last year of his contract, I doubt he would get as much on his new contract with us. I was dead against the Beams trade at the time but Mitchel is a gun both on and off the field, I can understand the clubs thinking

No brainer…
Obviously…

I'm worried about myself.
I think my thoughts indicate I have no brain.
What if it's not obvious to me?
What if I was given a dollar every time someone said obviously? No brainer.

These post are always funny. People want the star recruit for the sugar high. Not for what is means. Only one of your players has won a grand final despite all going to contending teams. We also signed Beams and Treloar who were huge gets at the time, but your using hindsight to judge them. Jack Crisp could just be about the best trade get in our history, but he's not on the front cover of magazines so it's not good enough.

Truth is, Hawks, Richmond and Dogs all lost arguably their biggest star the year before they won grand finals. They brought in players who were not "stars" but are now premiership players.

I think Mitchell salary is negotiable… has two remaining years on a big contract but the club might offer him 3 years plus games trigger for a 4th and backload more of the salary 🤷‍♀️

For the right trade price and contract length… I’m keen on Mitchell

Gives Macrae and reef time to develop into centre mids

Covers for the inevitable Adams injury every 8 -10 weeks

And is a ready to play centre mid option that doesn’t have Brown as a last name

Tom Mitchell gives me beams 2018 vibes. Got ahead of ourselves with making the GF and made some poor decisions. We could easily miss finals next season with similar results not going our way. I don’t like it. If we can steal one this year then that’s amazing but we still have a list rebuild that needs to be done right. A 29 year old mid doesn’t fit for what he would likely cost.

Fly, Bolton and Wright all know Mitchell - they'll have a good idea if he's value or not.

(BTW - I have no idea about Mitchell)
