I didn't want to mention the 3 veterans because I value my life. But yeah, all 3 will have up and down years. WHE will have his roles week to week but given a good run with injuries and the addition of the two new recruits, he's no guarantee of playing every week. Lippa is in trouble also, had a terrible year and his lack of pace is telling
But he is one of our "best runners", according to Fly. Do they measure runners on how long they can run, not pace?

I’m glad you mentioned getting pick 12 in a package for Noble. A few on here have correctly pointed out that a straight swap of Noble for pick 12 is unrealistic.
It will always involve some wheeling and dealing of picks to snag pick 12 for Noble.
Straight swap for F1 with pick 12 is conceivable.
Noble for pick 20 would be fair.
So F1 + Noble for picks 12 and 20. Respectively.

I think that's fair, but what it doesn't do is solve the Suns need for points this year. This year has so many intertwined trades with the Suns dealing with Pies, Port and Tigers. Who knows where it ends up.

I would presume endurance.

Tarkyn Lockyer was always regarded as a good runner. He was also slow af, particularly late in his career.

Terrible year in what metric exactly? Compared to what? Was almost back to his best. 2023 was poor given his injuries, but this year, was much improved.
Kicked 18 goals, and was out best 5 players in the first half of the year. Dropped off after that, who didn't, but then found some form late in the year.

Come on Jen, outside of good games against Port and Melbourne he was pretty ****ing average all year.

I'm all for it bro. I'll back the club in either way. I'm just on this pace obsession atm and finding it hard to shake
Whilst pace is important, a winger needs to be able to run all day.
That's why Sidey has been a good winger.
Lippa and WHE are others that can keep running.
Allan too, but I want to se him played as a mid.

we could give them Noble and a later pick, and they can send us back a pick in next year's draft for us to use.

Game day top speed results throw up some surprising names. I tend to think that most players don't go for long enough straight line sprints to hit their top speed very often, which is at about the 40 metre mark in a 100 metre race.

Nah, it’s around 60m or even a bit later - Bolt was closer to 80.

I thought he had a fairly good year.
I can’t think of any match outside of the two I mentioned where he had a significant impact on the outcome.

He didn’t regress on 2023 because his 2023 was pretty rubbish outside of Grand Final day but I certainly don’t think it was what I’d consider a good year.

I feel he’s going to be borderline 22 for the foreseeable future unless he improves.

I think Jen's right. That guy from Champion Data rated him extremely highly in the 1st half of the year. Can't remember whether it was based on goal assists or something. He actually said Lipinski had been very underrated.

Interesting. He must be one of those off radar quick guys because he rarely uses it to create space for himself, to get ahead of the ball in transition or close it down in defence. Realistically they’re the only times pace is important in our game. Compare that to Nick who’s running power is obvious.

That is 100% not a clip on his game BTW. I’ve just never watched him and thought “damn Josh is influencing this contest with his speed”.
On Josh's speed, I recall him being run down from behind a few times, so a combination of not using his speed and a lack of awareness of an oppo player closing in.

The Suns will need points next year too, because they have another bunch of good kids in their academy.

The Hannebery/Morris slot won't be part of my regular listening. Shithouse.

Trade talk radio spots are now becoming like podcasts , essentially anyone and everyone is an expert. " Welcome Dan Hannebery , 18 games over 4 years with St Kilda"

Its like podcasts , podcast equipment needs a higher price , everyone thinks they are the next big thing

I think every player playing AFL is a good runner or you'd be playing in a lesser league. I just think you need a point of difference to be a better player than just a runner. Would Lippa get a game with any of the top 4 sides this year it's worth considering.

But he gets it at least 20 times each week. So unsure if that's actually a pattern.
His evasiveness suggests to me that he has quite good awareness.

Logic says that the higher your top speed, the longer you'll take to get there, assuming similar acceleration.

No, he was just average. Not seeing him getting a game at any of the top 4 sid3s, probably closer to top 8. He's just a battler who I hope we improve on. If we get Peatling, he's in trouble of losing his spot.

It’s all relative as to what “good” might mean, but there are certainly different levels of running abilities across the AFL. So there are players for whom running is a strength and for others a weakness.
