Can anyone please explain how Geelong can fit Martin Oliver and Bailey smith into their current salary cap.
Something awry must be happening there. I think they passing on too much under the table cows turd to everyone
Cant believe all this crap
haven't you Cottoned On to it yet?

You would want a large sized mid like dunkley who has the ability to match up against bigger sized mids and negate their influence at stoppages. Seems like Ed Allan has the tools to become this and more.

Another clearance beast like JHF who can find and win his own ball and own stoppages, would help release the pressure on Nick having to be the one to win the clearances.

A speedy mid with elite kicking skills, like gulden.
I am not sure if Ed Allen is a Dunkley like mid

We only carry 1 that predominately plays mid / bench. The incumbent on that is Titch.
I'm sure our preference would be to carry none.

The single mid player, one paced player, will use up mins as a flanker, but that's more about TOG and rotation cap than it is about being able to play high quality role ahead of the ball.

If you don't have pace or some other elite physical trait, you don't play ahead of the ball in any significant capacity.

We saw this last year and 2023.
At selection, we opted to shift players from HB / HF into the Mid and backfill those roles rather than bring in another "mid only" player.

My point was, if you are only good at one role, or only want to play mid role.....then we simply don't have the spots.
Those players will consistently get overlooked at selection.

Kennedy absolutely fits this bill IMO.
If he wants to come to us, he's not starting R1 without some injuries....

So for me, i'm a hard pass as i don't think he makes us better.
I'd prefer give those minutes to Allan and keep Sully or Long for depth.
That's enough for 2025 in what is a very limited role for us.
I agree with you, but also think how good do you have to be on the inside if you haven't got an outside game that makes you a decent flanker? There just aren't many blokes who are good enough on the inside to justify not offering much else.

I’m looking at daicos, degoey, Mitchell, perryman, pendles, crisp and Allan. There’s only so many mids we can have. I don’t think we need any of them. List spots are tight. Time will tell. Long and Sullivan were rookies for free. Kennedy won’t be cheap depth. Will still be on half decent coin and if we are full strength I don’t see a spot

That’s fine

But our midfield is currently our biggest weakness and we can’t guarantee a good year with injuries

If will Parker can improve his defending skills and develops the ability to intercept the ball , it should give Collingwood the flexibility to move quaynor to the wing. Think quaynor has another level he can get to.
Quaynor to the wing just doesn't work. Backline is already under pressure without a big back, losing Noble as well..

He has the height to matchup against the bigger mids, just needs size. Once he adds size, he should be able to what dunkley does and then more. Would like him to be a combination of dunkley's defensive capabilities and tom green's offensive abilities.

I don't get why you'd move IQ to the wing. His marking game is his biggest strength. It means he can play on smalls yet also switch to cover someone taller.

Fair enough about not dilluting a noble trade

Better than Bytel, Sullivan, Macrae… still makes the list better

List spots have to be filled. If it’s an experienced Fiorini for cheap or an 18 year old kid with pick 50

… I know what I prefer

For me it’s another Lipinski like situation… remember the who-ha over taking him? He was a dud, we’re over paying etc etc

Likewise Fiorini not getting a regular game in a good midfield so wants to leave and possibly also just get back to Victoria

So long as the deal is right… it’s a no brainer to take him given he’s versatility and ready to go in 2025 when the club is chasing a flag 🤷‍♂️

Happy to agree to disagree on Fiorini. If we have list spots available after the draft you look to those types of players (yes I know he’s contracted and only available via trade), not in trades. I’d personally rather we throw another contract at McInnes now than trade for Fiorini if we’re just going to waste the list spot.

*Find the ball give to Nick ?

More a gauge on what people are expecting , look at Port who cant play Butters , JHF & Rozzee together often
The problem with those three is that they're all offensive mids - they run ahead of the ball and can get caught on the wrong side of centre if the clearance goes the other way.
You need a balance - some one covering the defensive side of the centre circle.
That said, I'd be happy to get any or all of the three!
