I'm willing to bet money that he nominated Collingwood internally but Port asked he not make it public as to not weaken their position
If Dan was truly ok with just staying put and Port were completely fine with him staying if they couldn't get a suitable deal, Port would have already officially pulled out by now and said they're keeping him. They could easily throw their arms in the air and say it's all too hard and no deal would suffice so they're keeping him. He very clearly wants out more than they're willing to admit
If North was an actual real option, it would have already been done. They obviously have the better offer for Port. It's that simple. The fact that it isn't done means North isn't actually an option
I'm sticking to the position I've had pretty much all the way through. Deal is already done (even in principle) and this is all theatre
