Both Reef and Ollie Henry were drafted, a few numbers apart, in 2020.

Reef’s first couple of years were impacted by injury, while Ollie’s form was up and down. Until a VFL game at Coburg in May 2022, when he kicked 7 goals.

That story didn’t have a happy ending for us, but the point is that Ollie showed he had ‘it’ and we all knew it (I know his current form is down at Geelong).

Reef, to my knowledge, has never had a game in the twos let alone the seniors, where he announced himself as a player.

If he’s being played out of position for four years - as many claim on here - then you have to ask why would the coaches do that? It can’t be four years of competing objectives, conspiring to prevent him from succeeding.

reef in 2023 had a game where he kicked 6 and a few weeks later had back to back weeks of kicking 4. so he has put the numbers up in the VFL
generally when he gets senior selection, he is the sub with a little over a qtr to produce, which he usually hits the scoreboard in that time.
He should be played as a mobile forward with spurts in the midfield to utilize his pace

The bolded is the thing. Posters need to assume the coaches are competent and ask that question more when the coaches do something they wouldn't - rather than just assuming their idea is the best and that the coaches are ****ing up.

Essendon board all say his kicking is atrocious and not up to AFL standard. If he can't sort it out he won't make it.
CD won’t confirm it, but he’s the worst kick in the league currently, IMO. He looks like he might miss his foot half the time it’s that bad. A question though would we prefer him over the known VFL quality of Macrae?

Reef doesnt have the fitness to play anywhere other than deep forward or come on as a sub, thats why he never plays midfield and most likely never will

Why do Long and Bytel get the luxury of finding their feet at Collingwood when they've shown less and are more mature than Reef/Macrae.

It should be Long and Bytel that are subbed in and out and given 30 min every 3 games to show something or they're done.
Bytel has barely been given any chances, he is only 2 years older than Macrae and Reef. His game on the weekend is better than any game i can remember from Macrae outside of the training drill vs west coast earlier this year

Long is younger than both Macrae and Reef

He's been taking a lot more marks than Max King over the last two y

You have been told several times that Reef has been playing as a tall forward out of NECESSITY, plus he's shown plenty of signs it's just you can't see them. Played a very promising game at Punt road, I guess you didn't see that either.

I don't know if Tsatis is on the trade table but if there's a chance we could get him, then we would be silly not to take him.

He’ll be available. Essendon will look to cash in while he still has some value. He makes James Manson look a good kick!

He doesn’t play a role that kicking would define him at Collingwood, but he’s that bad by foot I’d probably take a pass if he were on offer to us. I’m mostly interested in a Macrae v Tsatis debate because Macrae’s goose was cooked by Wardlaw and he’ll be gone post 2024, but he won’t ever be anything more than a fringe battler. I just wonder if others see Tsatis the same way yet.

A bit more luck next year on the injury front and we can have 1 more crack.

If Degoey and Mitchell can stay on the park our midfield will be instantly improved.

Same goes for our forward line with Mcstay, checkers and Elliot playing together.

Come 2026 we will have daicos, Degoey, McGuane and fingers crossed one of Allan or demattia come on.

Draft a speculative tall this season, hopefully fine one.

Things can change quickly. Add potentially Parker and Condon which would really change our fortunes if they become players for free.

I don’t think we need to panic and make desperate decisions in the off season

Quaynor and Moore can hopefully get back to their best too.

On gettable, they mentioned we'd be unlikely to be that active .. maybe a play for Keane if anything.
But otherwise have eyes on mcguane for next year and making sure we plan for him.

If he is a top 5 pick how does it now work with the draft concessions?

Do we need to keep the pick for points?

We wont know yet. Cal also thinks the Draft Index will change next year. Clubs will have to pay more for players. Whether you need a pick in the same round or whether its just that picks will have more points attached, and no points attached to picks outside 40.
The commission will be meeting this week.

Excuse the interruption.

Seems as though Keane is going to request a trade. What do you think his trade value is? He is contracted for another year and has been serviceable this year (man sometimes loses his mind) and think he would work well with Moore
