Believe that war chest was more end of 2025, at least when we have the vet salaries off the books and we stop paying for treloar.
If 25 is the last year of Treloar's 5 year deal, and we were allowed to front-end part of our obligations - as was reported at the time - then surely we are finished with him?

I thought we had a lot of cap space that we had been going to use to bring in UFAs?
When did this change?

FMD
This is beyond infuriating

If we target a KPD I hope it’s top shelf and not double paying for (IMO) NQR Keane
Agree. Keane doesn't quite fit the definition of "key defensive reinforcement". Can see him being monstered easily by tall key oppo forwards... like our friend Frampton regularly is. Murph's loss is way bigger than people think... his courage papered over a number of defensive deficiencies, especially Darcy Moore's lack of competitive physicality. Keane doesn't cut it for mine, unless he costs us next to nothing

Some of the media discussion around Petracca is funny. They all went so hard on the "culture" problems at Melbourne, but then cannot understand why one of their star players would want out. A real head scratcher. Add discontent over the way his injury was handled and there's ample justification.

If he was adamant about coming to us it definitely could get done, the main problem would be Melbourne's saltiness. I don't think it will happen, but not so far fetched that we, as fans, should not even consider it.

And? We wouldn’t be the first and won’t be the last to shift payments around to accommodate a player.

clearly not in this case.
That and trade currency makes it unrealistic. We seem to have other priorities.

Can't believe anyone would think we are cashed up when our hierarchy is having secret lunches with Trac in Derrimut

No, trade currency alone makes it unrealistic. The salary stuff is media hyperbole.

How is Rioli worth two first round picks 😂.
He's not. But Richmond fans a screaming that's what he is worth and they are dealing with GC so some are saying pick 6 and 13 with a 2nd going back. He is 28 next year early in the season. Personally I don't think he is worth pick 13. But I wouldn't be totally surprised if they got pick 6.

It’s bizarre isn’t it? A 27 year old who’s never even been close to being in the conversation for AA and apparently he’s worth two first rounders 🤦🏻

Okay again.

Something tells me there's no point replying to you with anything sensible. I will talk apples and you will come back with oranges.
Brother, I just disagreed with your opinion that Beams trade "screwed our club for 5 years" and concisely raised why that just wasn't the case in hindsight, that is all haha

Inflation must be hitting the Gold Coast much harder than anywhere else

Clearly I meant the trade screwed us from a draft capital and trading position perspective.

The fact that we came within a kick of a Flag in 2018 and within a kick of a GF in 2022 and won the Flag in 2023 is a brilliant thing for Pies fans.

But to come back with that as a retort for the outcome of the Beams return trade and what it cost us trade and draft wise... that's apples and oranges. Unless you were suggesting that the successes of 2018, 2022 and 2023 were a result of the Beams trade... which I don't think you were?

In any case, my original point was that I don't want the club to sell the farm to get Petracca. A fully fit Petracca before his injury, sure. But not at this point of his footy journey.

I rest my case.
