Trac isn't that important to us. He's an upgrade, but not by enough to be the difference, and certainly not with the risk attached and his current contract. Offer what we can realistically afford that won't potentially implode our club, likely a future first + Mitchell + fringe player (Macrae/Richards) on the condition that they pay some of his salary and move on if they don't accept it.

The Demons aren't competing for a premiership soon with their current issues and list. We'd only be helping them and hurting us if we paid Trac what he was worth one year ago instead of what he is worth today. They certainly didn't help us with the Grundy trade.

Agreed, we're a system-based team so it's our bottom 6 (and then the next 5-6 outside our best 22 who will get games) that we need more consistent quality football out of, one big name isn't going to make the difference for us.

Sounds just like the sort of character you'd want in your club then 🥴

Fly would hate him. Surely.

Yeah this person is inside Essendon and it's pretty toxic atm.

Scott just gives you nothing if your not in his best 10 players he barely speaks to you.

If your in the rehab group he won't speak to you.

I'm surprised with Merrett, always thought he would have been a good bloke but sounds like an arseh*le.

Just a source inside the club.

It's pretty solid,

Bombers are a bit over the click of Stringer Larverde and Merrett.

Merrett is a big **** when around these 2 and Bombers want to move away from it.
Two spuds affecting the captain. Laverde is a plodder of the highest order

Yeah I'm surprised to hear that type of negativity about Merrett.

Not so surprised about Scott. Always thought he was an arseh*le.

So where has this Stringer talk come from?

Just that Fly and his management had lunch earlier in the week.

Nothing more then that.

Does he have a genuine mental health issue or is he just struggling through a few challenges? None of us know but what we do know is his public personae and all we’ve heard from him in the media suggests the later. Not sure we need to throw him under the “mental health” bus without solid evidence to support it.

His words alone are enough to trigger my similar trauma. Mens mental health is brushed aside so much and not supported as the community would say it is. Comments by Lyon and Swartz who have claimed the ‘mental health card’ in the past disgust me.

I have stopped actively engaging in the Petracca rhetoric because I heard what he said on the podcast and sympathised with him having gone through something similar.

There is only one side to this equation and Melbourne especially coach CEO and president should have come out and publicly wrapped their arms around him with love like they did Oliver. If I was Trac I could not fathom the disparity in the treatment of the two.

Trac has spoken and it’s about the trauma and recovery. People don’t listen.

I don’t care now where he plays as long as he is surrounded by a great support system.

The way MFC and the media have handled this from a trade angle is naive and ignorant.

Niall’s article was spot on in that no player of quality would agree to going to Melbourne in its current state. There’s a reason Huston is now looking at StKilda (lol) instead of the Demons.

That being the case, if Melbourne have to settle for picks then Carlton are unfortunately better placed than we are, unless we can miraculously cook up a deal that gets us 13 from GC.
Its reported Houston is staying put at Port Adelaide and will see out his contract

So he's lazy, fat, crap and yet......

If we're wanting to load up for the now and go all in on next years Premiership then outside of a Petracca or Houston who may or may not seek a trade Stringer might well be the next best option if we want immediate impact.

Certainly cheaper than both so that's one plus.

I kind of respect that he can get away with it. He never learnt how to run far because he never had to.

Reminds me of a very talented mate of mine who ended up at Hawthorn. Big marking full forward. Immediately latched onto Dunstall and a few others as the slow lazy runners who would take short cuts on their runs from Glenferrie to the Boulevard. Problem was that the other lazy ones were established footballers. My pal was not. And he was also a one-position player at a club that already had a decent full forward. Many reserves games and one senior match was probably a poor return for his talent.
Shane McGrath?
