Haha, Petracca just realises that no one has currency. It will happen, just not this year.

He will be turning 30 that January for any club that trades for him for season 2026.

How much will you be willing to part with? certainly not multiple firsts! further mortgaging the clubs future. Eventually we are going to come down the other side and when we do you damn we'll want to hope we have our dull compliment of live picks intact.

Putting what he may or may not have done away from the game to one side for a moment, what message would bringing in a fat, lazy, self centered bag of finely crushed gravel like Stringer into the club send to the guys who have busted a gut over the last 3 years? Players who are totally professional in their preparation, like Pendles & the Daicos brothers? Someone like McStay who busted a gut to get back this season to try and help us get to the finals. Someone like JFN, who regardless of whether you think is any good or not, is 100% heart & soul?

This bloke is septic, to be avoided at all costs.

I’m not sure how much they’d care if it helps us win, especially JFN who’s told the club to eat rocks so he can go to the Gold Coast

Prediction:

Trac goes out and plays for Melbourne next year after an interrupted preseason and has a so-so year. Melbourne fans begin to question if it’s because of mental demons from his injury, or if his hearts just not in it anymore because of the way the club treated him.
The Melbourne heirachy begin to worry that he won’t ever get back to his best, and they’re stuck paying a million a year to what is now a so-so player.
Both club, and fans begin to think that maybe they should have traded him in 2024 when they had the chance and could obtain something of value for him.
Christian asks for a trade at the end of 2025, and a trade is facilitated for a much more reasonable cost than was being demanded in 2024.
In 2026, Christian coming off a full preseason has a career best year playing alongside the Daicos brothers, JDG and young Tommy McGuane. Collingwood wins the flag, and the Demons have fallen to the bottom of the ladder.
Melbourne supporters curse Collingwood and blame them for ruining their club by ending Brayshaws career, and intentionally injuring Trac in a devious plan that culminated in them stealing their star player.
Order has been restored and all is right with the world.

Pretty firm statement from Trac and MFC. Seems like they’ve assessed there are no viable trade options, and are now in face saving mode.
I see a situation of Petracca remaining at the Dees, remaining disgruntled, having a poor year (by his standards) and then asking to be traded again next year and succeeding. And the Dees end up trading for less than they would have this year.

doubt he’ll be physically ready for round 1, and wouldn’t be surprised if it took most of next year to get his confidence to attack a contest back. So a down year isn’t inconceivable.

No had no choice.
The two clubs that were in contention were not gonna sell the farm for him.
Was just gonna be impossible to pull off. So he stays.
Just like Houston.
That’s ok Jen.
He can ease back in next year, remain an unhappy player, underperform by his standards and Pies can grab him for a single first round pick next year.

Didn't like him anyway & now you tell me he's American!

"Helping us win" would include chasing hard and 100% effort over 4 quarters. High-performing teams value trust as much as ability.

JFN is leaving for family reasons, unlike Stringer who has met other clubs because he was told to pull his finger out.

That's an entirely possible scenario.

JFN is leaving for family reasons, not because the coach told him he has to pull his finger out.
Johnny's digit is well and truly extracted - we couldn't have asked for more from him this year.
