Am I the only one that would like us to throw our hat in the ring for Lewis Young? Best kpd on the market?
He’s a second Billy Frampton IMO. Looks great 2 or 3 times a year, solid another 2 or 3 times and really bad most other weeks. Need to aim higher IMO

Yes, that is interesting. I thought it might be Kennedy who would seek a trade after fw Voss subbed him out in the Elimination against Brisbane.
But Carlscum got in ifrst apparently by telling him to "explore other options" ?
I like him as a midfielder, hard, modest, tough.
Don't care what he posted 5 years ago on Instagram.

Young is better than frampton imo, although he's always seemed to play better without weitering in the side. At one point in early 23 (I think) young was outperforming weitering when weiters came back from injury. Could be the same with moore but he's a good age, good height, and has shown better afl form than frampton, certainly as a key defender. If it's low cost I think we could do a lot worse, and I'm not sure who out there is going to be better for us this year in giving moore support.

Fair enough. I would rather we pick up somebody as opposed to nobody. I don't think we can seriously compete without Frampton or Dean becoming twice the player they currently are.

Interestingly, and I think this may involve Carlton more than anybody else, but there seems to be some chatter that Sam De Koning could be available for the right price. Hasn't hit the heights of 2022 since but he's only 23 and can definitely play.

Carlton making players available today has me confident they've got somebody in the works, and it would be SDK or Houston. If they get one, I'd like the other.

It's a yes from me. Delist eyre and get young cheap

What do reckon about kennedy. Probably being held out by Cripps. Could be a very good cheap option
Kennedy works for me. Another 'big bruiser' option who's a known commodity. 27- 28 years old puts him in the Maynard part of our list, which is fine.

I'd be chasing Sam Frost. I thought he was good this year. He won't get a game with their new recruits. He'd be cheap and fill the role for a couple of years and hopefully we add a draftee who can do it longer term and gets a couple of years to develop.

31..!

...and now with a bone stress injury in his foot.

Which means he'd cost nothing and it wouldn't hurt us in the draft, but we'd fill the role in the short term.

My strategy would be a couple of dirt cheap oldies to fill holes for the immediate term and use picks in the draft. Clear out all the mid career VFL guys on the list. replace with 18 year olds and 30+.

My strategy is to steer clear of bringing in any more oldies..28 & under.

I think that either smashes us in the draft and thus future if we top up with younger ready to go recruits. Or we smash our chances next year by not filling holes with top ups. I think you can have the best of both worlds as the oldies come so cheap so they don't cost you at the draft.

Frost always played his best footy on smaller types IMO. I think he'll remain best 23 at Hawthorn even with Barrass and Battle joining. Blanck is the budget friendly Hawk I'd be looking at.

And yet, on the very rare occasion he has a run in the midfield in the VFL, he has shown that he is pretty good at winning clearances. It’s very frustrating that he has stagnated…

He’s behind every mid from Rd 25 + JDG + Mitchell + Sullivan + Long and likely + any mature age mid we bring in. It’s too far back for someone that’s only shown snippets at that level.

I agree it’s frustrating that he hasn’t come on, but you don’t suddenly go from stagnating mid sized forward to AFL relevant mid in your 5th year in the system. His best and only hope is a general defender role down back. The problem is I think he’ll be too small to play on bigs and too immobile to play on smalls.

Scrimshaw will be the one who survives if they do decide to go with a taller structure rather than just different blokes playing those tall roles. But I don't think they'll go that taller structure - their strength was run and spreading the field.

He was either 21 or 22 years old at the time. If I am getting the date correct ( April 2019). Who's to say he isn't a different man now and he regrets that choice. Plenty of young people get told things by Churches and because it is "Gods word" they feel that they need to support it. Plenty of young gay men and women have supported similar statements because they were very religious and they were told those feelings they were having were wrong. They have then come out and totally rejected their Churches later on.
Yep. Being untouchable 5 years later for liking a shithouse tweet is a ridiculous consequence.

Thank you manic brain think, just had a vision of the three of them on the premiership dias, the ticker tape raining black and white.

And Owies, premiership medal, together with the Norm Smith, wrapped around that head of his.

Diehard supporters singing and smiling…with the sweet taste of spew in the back of their throats.
A sniper’s dream
