It doesn’t really matter, but to answer your question IDK. I saw the discussion and wanted to add that I liked him as a prospect in his draft year as well.
I’m just asking as to whether he is out of contract or whether we are potentially chasing a player in contract…which makes it more difficult generally to do the business

I'm not in the negotiation room, so have no clue where Perryman will land.

It's all speculation at this stage, imo, so I'd never say zero chance.
Pending the accuracy of the report I would. That’s a stupid offer to a role player.

FWIW that was a general comment and not directed towards you.

Not for guys that are 2 years in with one game under their belt. For example if anyone comes hard at Ryan and he wants out it’ll get done.

They haven’t lost him yet…and they’re still in the market for so many players
And the $$$$ and lengths of some of these contracts has even deterred them.

The fact that they can even contemplate trading out Houston and maximising more draft capital whilst virtually spending nothing to bring their targets in is good business.

End of 2022 was the last time we did something like this but havent really made the same continued gains since then on the market.
If they’re offering Perryman $850 x 6 (with a trigger for a 7th) then Port have a Houston problem…

Port are offering lots of $ & longer term contracts to a variety of players it seems. I'm sure they're not thinking they will get all of them. They keep Houston, it could change things. They get Richards, it could change things again, etc, etc. They go out of the finals this week and it changes yet again with delistings & players wanting to move or told to look elsewhere.

I didn't think your comment was directed at me per se, just my general view that none of us know what is being said between club's, managers & players & what their priorities are.

If Perryman wants to play midfield, he'd get that opportunity more with us than Port I would have thought. That may be more appealing to Perryman for all we know.

I hear you but they’re always active and seem to have room or flexibility to do things …even without any draft capital this year to boot.

He is a very good operator Davies, from the outset when you look at their business over a sustained period of time.

That I do agree with. My first choices were Daly and J McCartney with Davies and R McCartney the next in line. We definitely need some seniority in that role to buffer the influence of Kelly.

Perryman’s a FA, yeah, so his deal will be the first of those domino’s to fall. They also aren’t offering that if they expect Houston to stick around.

Let’s entertain it for a second though and for me it’s a scary thought if we’re even in the same post code let alone ballpark.

The fact we’ve upped our offer tells me Perryman’s/camp has interest in coming to collingwood
How exactly does it indicate that? All it really tells us is Perryman’s agent has fielded an increased offer from us. It’s the exact same scenario as St Kilda’s offer to Merrett.
