McStay and Shoota haven’t exactly been treated properly by the fanbase.

No doubt that's one aspect for some players. Not all would find being in a team which attracts so much attention from a lot of areas, so appealing.

And managers & players know our current salary cap situation & trade capital. So let's see what happens next year when a few retire & our salary cap has been totally sorted.

If we could pick up Perryman, keep Richards & select a young kpf in the draft or one who has been delisted from elsewhere, I'd be more than happy with that.

I'm most excited about having Boyd back at the club to help our defenders.

Maybe playing in front of big crowds/big club is not as important as you think it is.

If you are a competitive athlete, you usually have an ego and players usually love nothing more than strutting their stuff on the big stage in front of the biggest crowds. That's why we had years of other clubs whingeing about Essendon and us playing on ANZAC Day every year, so the AFL invented multiple Anzac Days and an ANZAC Eve to keep everyone happy.

Not so sure about that, most 18 year olds that I know playing footy just want to get to any club, one they have supported would be their dream.

Stats look great on their own. Some huge games in there.

Prefer to combine with the eye test of someone who’s a solid judge, as (obviously) numbers alone can be v deceiving.

Ie 10 intercept marks is a much better game than 10 chest marks if the team is chipping it around down back.

Would be interested in his leap and closing speed and whether attributes leap out as AFL relevant or not. How damaging his disposals are, importantly, does he make decisions quickly or hang onto the ball etc etc.

So many make or break intangibles don’t appear on a stats sheet.

I'm sure they like they playing in front of big crowds. That's probably not their issue.

It could be the extra attention Collingwood get as a club. You only need to look at how Ginnivan went from villain to hero in the eyes of the media & oppo supporters when he swapped guernseys.

Would be interested in how he fares down back as a possible Murph replacement, as that’s where he hypothetically slots straight in for us if up to the grade.

Yeah sure, Ginnivan copped it after Hawks lost & Ken said they used it as motivation. But I think Ken's copped it the most out of all of this saga.

There were plenty who didn't see much wrong with what he said online. Just like many thought him going to the pub the night before a final wasn't a big deal either. He's been given a lot more leeway from the media & oppo supporters than what he ever got with us. He was universally hated in b&w.

Even ducking is seen as a good tactic now

Can you imagine the extra uproar if he did all this if he were playing with us? There wouldn't be oppo supporters defending him, that's for sure.

I would say if he had never played for us in the first place, he wouldn't be getting as much attention as he does.

People say we didn’t give up much because of points value but the reality is that we lost our second round pick in a deal for a rookie who’d never played a single game. It wasn’t a storm in a teacup, it should absolutely have never happened.
