Josh Sinn straight swap for Richards.

I am sure Sinn is from the same year as Nicky D. There was a Sandy v Oakleigh game at Rsea Park and Sinn absolutely killed it for Sandy and they beat Oakleigh.

Who says no to the deal?

Love it but won't happen

Port. They rate him highly because he’s a ripper.

I reckon that when he was allowed to run and jump at the ball he was a very good forward (ie a 5 goal game against WC when no body pressure was applied at all). I believe he struggled a bit when he was forced to wrestle a bit and rely on strength (which maybe he hadn't developed at the time). The run and jump at the ball game he plays now suits him better IMO
There aren’t many 200cm skinny 19 year old key forwards that are good with body contact so probably not really fair.

Thats true. I thought he was a bit older at the time, however I still believe he is more suited to his current role though.

Given they were getting battle and barrass, I didn't think they would be much in it.

I really wanted port to win it all this year, but given the way their season has ended, I just wonder if any of their contracted players ( not named Houston) will suddenly have the urge to leave port go to a club that doesn't consistently choke in finals.

I still wouldn't touch Rozee or Butters if they ever wanted to leave. They are awful finals/big game players.

Port Adelaide says no, next.

Isn’t it up to Port to make the offer?
If Port prepared a list of offers they could present for Richards a straight deal for Sinn would be 100th or later. The only scenario we have a play on him is if we add something juicy on top of Richards (I’m talking our future 1st juicy), but they’d probably still say no because they’re about to lose Houston.

Won’t they just offer their second round draft pick?
Probably about right.

Port have: 37,55
Coll have: 33,48,51

Ideally I’d love 37 straight for Richards but I don’t know if we will get that out of them. Would be a clean and good deal though.

I wouldn’t be against Richards and 51 for 37 and 55 if that’s what it takes to get 37 out of them.

Or Richards and 51 for 37 and a future 3rd.

We picked up Richard’s for a pick in the 40’s. We’ve developed him, and port have chased him with a bigger deal. At minimum it’s 37.

Completely understand and agree, but he is out of contract and wasn’t a regular in our best 22.

I’d guess port might value him around the same as we did say Lipinski a few years back.

I value Richards a bit more than 37. Port will end up with a quality player. I really want to keep him. Pick 37 is almost giving him away for nothing. Regardless of all the super draft talk, any player at 37 in this draft is going to be speculative and we have to put in a few years to develop him.

Port don’t care about our investment in him and nor should they. The strength of the contract, his likelihood to be best 23 at Collingwood or Port and his uncontracted status are the factors at play. If we’re stacking points for say Brisbane’s first then it’s 37 and if we’re stacking points for McGuane it’s their 2025 2nd. Either would be a good outcome for a 25yo fringe type.

If port offered their future second that would be a great outcome. They will have a tougher draw and points for McGuane would open up more for us this year potentially.
