Geelong is perfect for him, look how quickly the Stengle stuff went away. At the pies the attention on him would be huge, dont see it working out well.
Ridiculous that he could go out on a bender, be hospitalised, then get selected to play the next week and nobody says boo about it…

Ah yes, the toxic, drug-addled, wall-kicking turnover merchant that was Jeremy Cameron. It’s definitely the same scenario playing out again in front of our eyes.
How much of the first part do you want to put it on Melbourne's culture ? Say whatever you want about his off field issues, he has still contributed at a fair level on field . Can't overlook his b&f winning seasons and the quality of his play back when the club was somewhat settled.

Everything you’re saying could also have been said about Dayne Beams.

It certainly appears the club has decided Melbourne’s culture is the effect and Oliver is the cause. Joel Smith’s career is hanging by a thread too for the same reason.

With Oliver apparently saying he wants to be traded to the Cats, the whole thing has become a real mess. It'll make for a fun trade week.

Melbourne can just as easily turn around and say they will hold onto Oliver because the trade compensation was no where near what they wanted. They are all adults, they will sit down and work out a plan to coexist next year. Whatever happens after that , happens. Poor list management decisions like trading your greatest trade asset for a single pick will cost careers. Fremantle with the draft capital can potentially sell Oliver the opportunity of not being in the Melbourne fishbowl. So Melbourne don't have to trade him to geelong, if they can get other clubs to convince Oliver to select them.
And Geelong will be like, you are pushing him, not the other way around.

Hanging by a thread? I thought it was over, they’ve delisted him haven’t they?

They’re pushing Oliver out the door.
The Petracca stuff has finally gotten through and they are making change.
Their patience has run out.
They will be paying a significant amount of his contract to boot…a lot more than what we contributed for Grundy based on the figures he is on.

Interesting to see how this one plays out.

Would imagine three first round picks be a decent return.
I just looked it up. Those 3 1st rounders ended up being picks 15, 18, 25*and a 4th

They got back 2 future 2nd picks that ended up being 24 and 25 (think this is right).

* this one doesn't look right but it is close to this. I got this from an article.

So in the end the Cameron trade lost them pick 15 and down graded 2 picks by half a dozen places. Oh and a 4th rounder. In the end it was a bad trade. Although it looks good on paper (3 firsts).
