from memory we were trading away early picks then. 2009 was the year we recruited Jolly & Ball. Our first live pick in the draft I believe Sinclair. 2010 was the year we recruited Krakouer and in the draft we picked up Fasolo. 2011 was the we added Elliott & Witts to our list off the top of my head. We also added Adams to our list in 2013 I believe via trades.

Also worth noting that even though you excluded 2014 Hine was a big part of the reason we took De Goey last year.

Way too early to be making calls on whether De Goey was a great pick at 5.

He has had a good debut season without being outstanding.

Those were both great additions, but we were talking about Drafting.

Hine is viewed as a god on these forums, but when you look at the 2010-2014 drafts have we really done that well?
Seriously? 2010/11 were write offs, but we stil got 2 best 22 players in Fasolo and Sinclair late in the draft.

2012 we got Grundy who will be a star, Broomhead who will be a great player, and BK, who may be a miss at this point. The dark horse though, is Ramsay, who looks like he's going to be quality and imo we have missed badly this year after his excellent start to the season.

2013, Berg and Freeman might be busts, but that's no fault of Hines. Take in to account though, that he had identified and committed to drafting Bonts at pick 6 before the Dogs caught wind in the week before the draft and swooped in early. He also picked up two more late gems in Marsh and Langdon with picks he didn't even intend to use.

Fyi, Hine is still head of recruitment. He's not as involved at scouting level anymore, but he stated earlier this year in an interview that he still has the final say on all new draftees.

Scharenberg - too early to say

Grundy - Great pick up, all though taking him wasn't exactly a brilliant decision, more like a no-brainer.

Langdon and Marsh.. great pick ups.

Broomhead - still not sold on.

What about 2009 2010 and 2011?
09/10/11 we traded our top picks away. Are you really trying to criticise him for not picking up superstars with late picks?

Maybe Apex, but if that's all true then I'm left scratching my head how we can be such a poor team with the best recruiter dominating the draft for the past 5-6 years.

I'm not trying to criticize him at all, just suggesting some overrate him.

Doesn't mean he isn't a good recruiter, but top 3 in the league? Doubt it.

We're all scratching our heads. The talent is there, it was on display for all to see earlier in the year, and as a young side lacking experience, we've been able to push some of the best sides in the league to the brink. Twice we've lost to top sides thanks to errant goal kicking.

Losing so many games sucks, and the narrow losses to top sides have been compounded by unacceptable losses like today's and against Melbourne. I'm not sure why we've fallen off a cliff two years in a row now, but it's shitting even the most positive of us up the wall to see a performance like today's.

Not sure what the answer is, but something's gotta give if they keep churning out this tripe.

Why would we offer Kreisler 4 years?

I mean seriously, what has he done in the last 4 years apart from be injury prone, come back and play some ok games and then disappear due to more injury.

We have witts and Grundy.. Both, imo, are better players.

If we want him for the forward/ruck role we are mad. Jesse white stays on the park, and is about more effective than kreuzer as a forward and not far behind him in the ruck and a whole lot cheaper.

Unless we have been offered an early first rounder for witts (to be used to pick up another KPP) we have no business trading in an injury prone, ruck that has barely played in 4 years. Even if he is a mad collingwood supporter.

Furthermore, if we can't afford danger field, treloar and an Amish type player we have several players getting seriously over paid.

GWS Season is also now over. Maybe we can get a Announcement from Treloar soon then
We won't get anything until the home and away season is done. Confident Treloar has a lot more professionalism than Henderson.

Won't hear anything until season's end I could imagine

We also got Williams in one of those rookie drafts

I'd be very careful with trading our first round draft pick for next year for someone like Aish. It could be very high.

Yep... a lot of people blindly convinced we will be a much better team next year, I really don't see much improvement in us next year outside of landing a big fish in the off season.

We rely a HUGE amount on the older guys like Brown Pendles Swanny Cloke.. none of them will be better next year. Our young kids like Moore and De Goey are still years away, and may have 2nd year blues.

Expect the same performances in 2016 under Buckley as 2015, finishing 10th-14th.
