No one cares if we go up a pick in the draft because everyone is assuming it will go to GWS for treloar but if he decides to stay going up the extra spot from 8 to 7 is huge if we go to the draft.

I agree mixed message on the 2 week deadline. Maybe Tigers making 2nd week of finals is his deal breaker.

If it was just us he could nominate us now. It could also just give him the chance to attend Giants B & F before indicating he's leaving. If I was his manager I'd be advising him to hold off too. Not a lot to be gained by going early; a bidding war would result in a bigger contract.

If he's waiting two weeks, that assumes he is able to predict when Richmond will make their finals exit. Not likely. More to do with the fact that he'd perhaps like to wait for the Best and Fairest and to notify the right people in the organisation if he is indeed leaving. He may choose Richmond but let's be honest, no one but AT and have manager knows that. Best to let it play out and either rejoice or lament at the right time.

You're right there I think. You don't need to 'announce' that you want to stay. You just sign the contract and let the club do the rest.
