Just got a tweet from superfooty about a Sam Landsberger article, but they linked an article from The Age :D

They've deleted it now but you have to laugh that of all the incorrect links they could have had it had to be to their biggest opposition :D

What was the Article About?

What type of players, Pricey?
Moore is a inside mid but can use the ball on the outside pretty well. Had a lot of bad luck with injuries otherwise i think he would be regular 22 for the Power.
Young is a mid as well but can play off the wing or HB and is very tough and is probably why he gets hurt a bit. He's pretty unlucky that he doesnt play AFL more

You have talked about Freeman & Shaz as both being on 93k base. I corrected you a week ago on Shaz so very disappointing that you are still sprouting the same stuff. Unknown Identity even posted the extract from CBA player agreement. Please look at it again and note the bit about 'number of senior matches in previous year'. 93k is for 16+ matches in previous year. Shaz & Freeman played nil senior matches so are both on 73k base.

(There are also errors in your post about academy players 2 pages back but I'm not going to point them out if you don't take on board feedback). If you don't understand things than better to ask questions than mislead other posters.

No, the base rate for a 1st pick in their 2nd year is 93k. On top of that you get 5k match payments per game.
250k is peanuts.

Your first post was this:

As the index shows, Freeman's base rate was 93k. The match payments are 5k each.

Obviously he hasn't played but the expectation from the clubs perspective for a #10 pick in his 2nd year would have been maybe 15 games or 75k. So the club would have pencilled in 150-175k.

So while it has turned out he only got his 93k base wage, he would have been earmarked for 150-175k. Therefore the jump up to 250k in his second contract is absolute peanuts.

We would effectively be paying him 3.5 times more base wage without playing a single senior game and only a handful of less than impressive VFL outings.

Any idea of what sort of players they are or what they would cost in terms of trade?
Honestly i wouln't think Port would want to trade either, can't see it happening unless they ask to be traded and if that were the case they would command at least 2nd round picks

Moore is more of a Forward Line or BackLine player not really a Midfielder

No he isn't. That's unfortunately where he gets put when he gets his chance in the seniors but its not his natural position and not what he plays in the SANFL.

So take this however you like...
My mate Robert plays football with Nathan freeman's brother. He heard as recently as this week that Nathan was being offered 250K plus from the saints, and his manager was wanting the same from Collingwood.
I did my research into Robert, and he indeed is decent mates.
Just thought I'll leave that here.

thanks for posting this. $250k is a lot if the base wage but not so much (for a first round talent) if is base & match payments. Personally I suspect figures bandied around are more likely to be base + match.

You sound like that kid in year 8 PE who's not that good at sports but is bigger and stupider than everyone else so feels like he needs to make excuses for losing.
More like Richmond supporters who didn't want Treloar anyway:p

Hang on, weren't we told by people with impeccable "inside sources" that Shaz was definitely, 100%, its all over, shut the gate......gone?

Why anyone would bother taking anything these clowns say, seriously, is beyond me

Seriously why do you all bother??

He's just going to spin more bullshit, the more he gets a reaction the more he's going to do it.

FFS use ignore.

Bruise free players with outside skill are exactly what we need more of. Too many hardnuts in Viney, Jones, Brayshaw, Petracca, Harmes, Hogan, Kent, Tyson, Salem, Trengove, Dunn, Jetta, etc. We need someone with some run and carry who can move the ball forward.

Even this year I've thought that a lot of your players look too small and get brushed off the ball easily, but clearly you know more about your own club than I do :)
