TBH if you had asked majority of us at the start of the season who would you prefer to lose freeman or Shaz all of us would have said freeman, this kid hasn't played a single game for us so really doesn't effect our output on this year, if we get a second rounder for him then awesome times.

You know, I actually think we are in with a genuine shot here at Dangerfield. Read this article back in July:

http://www.theroar.com.au/2015/07/29/clever-danger-related-pun-headline/

More importantly, read this section of the article:

Collingwood
The Los Angeles Lakers of the league, the Collingwood Magpies, are absolutely a contender for Patrick Dangerfield.

In fact, I would put them above Geelong as a potential destination for number 32. Perhaps the biggest complication is Danger’s number is already taken.

Think about it. Collingwood are among the league’s youngest teams, after cleaning out their roster under Coach Nathan Buckley. They play a highly contested brand of football, centred on winning ground balls, forward 50 retention, and succeeding around the clinches. Collingwood are already ranked fifth on total clearance differential in season 2015, and are similarly placed on the inside 50 differential ladder.

If there’s a scheme that’s built for a ground ball machine like Dangerfield, it’s Collingwood. But he would also add an element of class that this team is lacking, outside of the classiest of all in Pendlebury. Collingwood’s opponents would be forced to play Russian roulette every week – do I send someone to Pendles? Danger? Both? The pairing would complement each other to such an extent that it would be hard to stop on a sustained basis. Add in another season or two of play for the Pies’ young midfield, a sprinkle of Adam Treloar, and this very rapidly becomes the game’s best line up through the centre.

The league’s fourth-best offence is confounding everyone’s expectations to this point in the season, and find themselves outside of the eight by virtue of five losses by a combined margin of 69 points in their past five games. They’re already good, and if it weren’t for that string of losses, and the equally remarkable rebound of the Western Bulldogs, the Pies would be front page news.

But it’s not even that. Who do you think is on big money at the Pies? Travis Cloke would be up there. So would Scott Pendlebury. Could Steele Sidebottom and Jesse White be overpaid? When your President is amongst the best at his craft in the game, it’s not likely. The Pies would have oodles and oodles of cap space available, and unlike their competing Melbourne clubs, many of whom are battling to pay the minimum, the Pies are so rich they spurred the league to create its new equalisation system.

Wouldn’t it be the ultimate irony if Collingwood used the TPP banking mechanism to table an offer to Dangerfield that the Crows simply couldn’t match? A six year deal, worth more than $1,000,000 a season, but with a first year of more than $1.5 million?

Make no mistake. Collingwood are in the race for Dangerfield’s signature. In fact, they may be ahead coming into the last 100 metres.

Think back, did we consider Sydney a viable destination for Lance Franklin at any stage before his move was announced?

Dangerfield if I recall correctly said that he wants to taste success. Well, he is closer to tasting that with us than he is with the Cats.

No doubt. Not really arguing otherwise.

As I said, on face value he's right. But with Freeman, it's far harder to hide the fact that it was about money. Treloar can still say he wanted to come home and picked the club that could get the best deal for GWS.

I"m pretty sure most aren't naive enough to actually think it's not money related.

Come on, man. He wants us coz of bucks. Not the cash.

The 750k a year was just to help him witht the cost of living. I paid 30 bucks for a burger and some fries and drink.

It's a strange world when the fact he hasn't disguised his move for money as well as another player is reason to get upset with him rather than people just dealing with the reality of it.
Admittedly I'm an NFL supporter so I'm more acclimatized to this type of move.

BEEG - any updates on the goings on inside Pieland? Especially after Freeman requesting a trade.

Nah didn't ask about Freeman like i said he was 40/60 to stay we moved from 1 year to 2 but were never touching that money

Is that information you've heard or an hypothetical guess?

Both to be honest his parents are die hard Geelong supporter they are at every game and at all functions i was told nearly every club knew he was Geelong bound from early this year

and I don't believe people actually thought we where a Chance.

Treloar is just as good a get as Dangerfield

He is not as good as Dangerfield he might one day but not atm

Dangerfield right now is the 2nd best player in the comp behind Fyfe in my opinion

What about on-field success though? Surely he would know that the Cats are further away from that then say us. Didn't he also want to leave for premiership success?

My biggest issue with Freeman is that he hasn't rewarded the club in anyway.
For example Kreuzer as been tormented by injuries, but he's come back this year and been a decent ruckman. Although, he did shop around... Mainly because of the poor offer from Carlton. He still rewarded Carlton this season.

Collingwood and freeman:
We've lost a pick 10 in a great draft.
Waste of cap space.
Senior spot.
Money for first contract.
Money on injuries.

Only to be thrown in our faces that our offer wasn't good enough... I don't want him to stay. I want him to pay us back for the injuries. I would have understood if he played 7-10 good games this year, and Collingwood were offering unders... Hes literally saying "thanks for getting me into the afl system Collingwood and funding my surgeries. Now I'm leaving you Coz well you're not good enough. And btw thanks for the 100k for sitting on my ass."
It's pathetic. It's becoming way too prominent in football.

Thanks, but are there any trade updates given that Freeman is off? eg are more determined to go after Aish, or would we look at another player that we might not have if he had stayed.

I think he and Geelong are under the opinion that they are not far away

Duncan and Cockatoo continue to kick on

Henderson and Selwood

They could be top 4 again next year

Nothing yet i wont have much until around the GF

And next year when lonergan leaves and a few more older backline players... They'll be closer to the bottom. Just silly if he's going there for his parents.... It's like I know you want to make your family happy, but I hope you're glad sitting and watching the next 10 years of September pass you by.
