Yeah with that info coming out I think it gets done with no clear comment from Brisbane comfirming he's staying yet.
Unfortunately for Sack his Gold don't glitter no more ..Chemistry is important.
Very fair point. Really good point.
But moving on average types or below average types I'd risk all the chemistry in the world.
I admired Toovey, but we sucked that lemon dry (hes not a lemon by the way just expression).
I'd be very miffed if we lost Reid (healthy) as an example.
But Frost meh (handy depth) Kennedy (just a conveyance) Cloke (hurts only if he was playing like a few years ago and he needs a reboot). Macaffer (terrific clubman great for VFL depth, it's some for him).
Now Goodsack again comes across great guy, clubman but literally he was our 23rd man in our last glory year.
Would I keep him, absolutely (as depth). But does his loss really lessen us? Don't think so.
List building is a painful excercise and it's ongoing. Whilst we have Pendlebury, Grundy, Treloar, Reid, Adams, Maynard, Moore, De Goey etc we are not that bad; need to keep adding and bringing in quality.
Chemistry in the back absolutely agree need that,
But for me the chemistry needs to come from these guys
Maynard, Brown/Keefe, Langdon
Ramsay, Reid, Scharenberg* Howe
that's 8 players there. You could depth as Goldsack too.
Reid is the lynch pin key back (truthfully he has been for years).
The above seem ok, Keeffe is a question mark but has height at least. Might be a flop, don't know.
Brown a good stopper much better than Frost.
* Scharenberg? Why do I list him always? He is of unknown input due to injury history. Agree.
But and it's a but, if he becomes what he was thought of (junior history) then he of all the backs could potentially reach A grade standard like Reid. That's why his chemistry to me is vital.
If not, ok, next.....
that's how it goes.
If we ever win a few flags with a group of players (era team) Collingwood will known as geniuses.
Everything seen as so clever and masterful.
Don't win flags, like in Goodfellas at the end "shmucks like everyone else"
And that is competitive sport.
An extra point to St Kilda in 2010 Ross Lyon is a genius a guru etc, and we are a bunch of hicks, and MM is a big flop. One point here or there in the greater scheme of things in one game, is really all defining? Perhaps so.
Thems the margins.
In the end they will get something less than they hoped. The decision will be based on the weighing up of what he brings to their club v minimum they are able to accept.
Greenwood on his own they may begrudgingly keep him. Greenwood plus a pick or something like that may be enough depending on how negatively he is influencing the place.
Frosty + Greenwood + ????That's my thinking too. That initial offer is gross unders from our end, but we're clearly in on him and with how things are travelling the club will be keen to get it done. Definitely a positive move if it goes that way, IMO.
Damo said he's been shopping himself around.
His management has actively been contacting clubs also.
For the life of me I have no idea why they want him out so badly.
Surely if it's purely his social media stuff, cancel his accounts.

It appears we offered Greenwood for Rockliff and asked Lions to pay a fair bit of his salary. They knocked that deal back.....

true or not l have no idea. but l can gather it is not from just a few tweets.

may be the nails are in the lids, just need some one to hammer them homeIf he is a coach killer, I can see why some are eager to get him
This is reported by the same media who said Aish was leaving two days ago. What a class act we are. Get a guy to leave his club on a 4 year deal & then try to offload him to someone else half way through it.
An interstate club that is currently sitting on the bottom of the pile as well. Nice Pies, that should help bring more willing players to the club for sure..
I agree, he's probably been king pin at Brisbane where as if he came to us it would be in a playing capacity initially. Can't help but feel that whatever it is, he's probably the reason they have such trouble retaining some young players. And I don't think it would necessarily impact on our club because he'd come in as a player and a player only (i.e not in the leadership group and definitely not our captain).
As long as Aish and him get along. Don't want another Beams and Barham disaster.

Tough game football, understand what you're saying but Greenwood could've cemented his position as a 'untouchable' but really is teetering on that fringe best 22.What a class act we are. Get a guy to leave his club on a 4 year deal & then try to offload him to someone else half way through it.

The club openly admitted at the members forum that we've had the most over the past 5 years!
I wonder if negotiations started off like ...
Hine: "We will take Rocky, I'll give you Frost."
Brisbane: "No."
Hine: "Ok ok ok, just kidding. How about we give you Greenwood..."
Brisbane: "Well that's a good starting..."
Hine: "And you pay for him to play with us."
Brisbane: "No."
So I suspect the next level will be Hine offering Greenwood and throwing in a couple of 2016 left over Collingwood member scarfs to sweeten the pot a little.
Frosty + Greenwood + ????
From reading their board they seem quite happy with the up and coming young ruck they have on their books. I think the club itself was interested in Witts but at this point he's made it clear he wants to go to GC and the club is accommodating his request. Why wouldn't Witts be involved in any deal with Brisbane?
Surely they need a young ruckman with potential
