Craig Vozzo, WCE, indicated only just got word of Marsh last night. Says they're pretty well stocked for defenders but will consider their options.

Trade radio advising Freo have no interest. They want Hamling.
I honestly wouldn't be upset if we kept Marsh by delisting and putting him on the rookie list, then offered to give him time off with the promise he still has a place at Collingwood if he can sort himself out. 12 months back at home might give him time to sort himself out. Could be an option if neither of the WA clubs are interested in him.

I'm still hopeful for next year if we get Rockliff for cheap, shift Adams to half back flank, sign Mitch Brown as an insurance and draft the best KPD available with one of our picks. We are essentially getting the Berg as a "new recruit".

I doubt the club would throw up Levi's name without him being consulted first. He'd be well aware that his senior opportunities would be limited next year if Rockliff came in and Mayne was taking up the defensive forward role.

I think also that Greenwood would see bringing in Rockliff would severely limit his chances of games, so its about opportunity for Levi as well. There would be a lot of opportunity in both the Qld teams for Levi. I think he would be best at the Suns, he is a screaming need for them.

Hope Marshy enjoys playing WAFL then. Although watch his mind change to "I want to go home" to "maybe I'll go to any other club" in a pretty quick fashion.

Only way Eagles take Marsh is in a straight swap for Mckenzie or Brown I reckon, replacing lost depth basiclaly.
Certainly appears that way.

WCE certainly played better when they had a more mobile backline. Marsh is certainly more mobile then McKenzie and would almost certainly be cheaper, salary wise. I don't mind McKenzie. He's an upgrade on Nate Brown and Frosty. We'd likely have to add something to that trade though.

What's McKenzie's contract status ?

To steal a line from Dennis Commeti (and altering it slightly to suit my needs in relation to this trade period) - "I went into the trade period optimistically and came out misty optically". Maybe i am inherently pessimistic in my conviction relating to the management of the Pies but i am not getting a feeling that there is a clear, resolute understanding of what our direction is. I really hope to be proven wrong. I am not so certain that there would be consultation before action ?

Lol, isn't that what I just said???

I hope Brisbane give him a new deal with higher money. Pickering will do the job for us if true. Money hungry campaigner.

Allen and Hine aren't stupid. They're not going to float a contracted players name at the trade table without discussing with them first.

To be fair, he came for opportunity and that's exactly what he has got so far.

Nothing about bringing him to the club & offering him 4 years to leave the Roos only to try to trade him 2 years later is fair.
Trade the name Greenwood for Treloar & there would be hell to pay. Yes this may be media crap & I certainly hope it is. If so i take my comment back.
I'm not a big Greenwood fan, it's just there are some thing we just shouldn't do. We made a commitment to him & we should see it through.

Can we just trade Marsh to GWS for WHE and +/-.

I mean, when he realises that he won't get a lost spot, or rookie at best and limited opportunity at Fremantle or WCE, he could just say he wants to be near his brother in Sydney, couldn't he?

If it's true that he wants out of Collingwood moreso than wanting to actually go home.

Gives him an option to deal with whatever he is dealing with,

I want to agree with you but i have a niggling sense of apprehension. This is Gubby's retirement job you know ;) .

There is nothing to say we have to fall in love with a player we have traded in. Its the same as drafting a player, there is no obligation for us to keep him. He has underperformed, therefor hes expendable. If he had performed in a way that justifies his contract, then brilliant, but he is literally costing us 400-500k to essentialy be a depth player, which i think he'll be next year. Idc when we brought him in, it'd be stupid not to turn him into a tom rockliff, mass upgrade

Brown is a free agent so we dont have to deal with the Eagles. If Marsh has definitely quit the club we dont neccessarily have to trade him if Eagles or Dockers dont want him.

Yep . Hard from a distance for us to know exactly whats going on but if he needs time to think (as a young Taz did when he went home to Mildura for a while) then I wouldnt be opposed to that. Straight swap for Keeffe on the rookie list!

Fair point. If we can wait for keefe and Thomas to see out their ban with no guarantee of playing again, we can give marsh 12 months on the rookie list.
