I don't know if their system is that complex. I see Hawthorn's strategy in the JOM trade as simple as having him set his mind on the fact that he will only entertain a move to Hawthorn and publicly announce same, preventing any chance of a bidding war.Tell Gold Coast that either way he will be a hawk next year, so they might as well take what they can get.

The probably didn't consider that Gold Coast would be as steadfast as they have been with the deal but I dare say that Hawthorn would still be pretty relaxed knowing that if a deal can't be agreed on, they will get him for unders in the draft with pick 10 anyway. Maybe this is the outcome they wanted from the start. If he was contracted, it would be a different story as Gold Coast would have a something of a bargaining chip.

I seriously doubt it goes that way. In that instance GC will likely just go to Essendon to deal on pick 1.

Essendon would then draft JOM at 6 or 8 depending on what the deal involves. With how big a campaigner Cochrane has acted this trade period there's no way they'll let him slide through to the Hawks at 10. That deal has probably been on the backburner the whole trade period if Hawthorn don't come to the table. Plus it gives GC a live pick before Bowes is bid on.

I'm glad the likes of frost marsh and brown have left the club.. weve been crying out for a decent kpb for years.. and when we're exposed in 2017.. our number 1 2 and 3 priority is to feel that position/s instead of p.. far..ing around adding midfield depth when the depth is there anyhow.

What if O'meara refuses to go to Essendon and puts a price on his head ala Luke Ball?

Wonder if we would potentially gamble (please, as if we would do that) and deal with Gold Coast. They want players, we give them De Goey/Fasolo + Witts + Oxley/Goldsack/Greenwood and then some pick swapping or give them our second for pick 6/4/8 (which ever ones gold coast have). Then we either A pick O'meara up in the draft, or take a top 10 pick and take whichever the best KPP is at the time available in the draft.

Yes we.might miss out on a diacos or brown but big deal I'm taking O'meara or a top 10 pick over them anyway! All players listed are best 22 players for gold.coast and players we can afford to lose. This is completely dependant on Omeara not getting done to Hawks and we deal with Gold Coast at around 1-1:30 to make sure it doesn't.

Essendon have more room in the cap than Hawthorn, IMO. Vickery and Titch in v Lewis and Mitch out has no doubt opened up space, but considering Essendon would happily accomidate him via the PSD they'll find room for him.

Personally I think Hawthorn will find something else today because I reckon they know GC isn't bluffing and that they would have contingency's in place.

If I'm GC I'm going to the draft with three top 10 picks. Fasolo/ De Goey/ Greenwood/ Goldsack and Oxley really wouldn't appeal to me given they need to regenerate the midfield. I agree though that we do seem risk averse exept when it comes to handing out inflated contracts...

A few snippets from Rob D'Orazio (manager of Cloke, WHE & Marley) on SEN this morning:

- Hold up on Dogs/Cloke has been Pies wanting to maximise points for F/S picks (Fair Enough!)

- There has been some late interest for Marley and he is considering a couple of offers; and

- He would be surprised if WHE was still a Giants player after today.

Hope today;

WHE for a 2017 3rd Round selection.

Frost & 28 for 22 and a 2017 3rd round selection

Williams & 65 for # 33. (I'd also look at Hansen and maybe Black)

Cloke for # 58

Witts for 26 but more likely #44 and 62 or the # 38 from Carlton.

marsh be keen on WCE #54.

With all that done a little of late trading up to ensure we had 6 picks ideal.

Yeah, I'm not too worried Cloke hasn't been done yet. I think the conversation a couple of weeks ago would've been "let's see where you end up at the end of trade period and we're happy to do it for the best pick you aren't too fussed about giving up." If by being patient, that turns out to be a pick in the late 40s or 50s rather than 70s, well worth it. Doggies are getting picks in for Stevens and Hamlin so it will pay to be patient.

i think it's very important that we trade into a a position where our first selection is lower than 28 so if we can get selection 22 that would be great as it means a bid for our two father sons is very unlikely to be made by then, so we get a good selection on a kid and use the pics for father/sons later on.

600-700 for Mitchell, 500-600 for Lewis 400-005 for Hill = 1.5-1.7mil Vickery 500,Mitchell 700, JOM, 750 =1.9mil cap gone? .

Don't worry I listened to it live yesterday not sure what pissed me off more Wallace or the so called "supporters" that told him how good it was.
Funniest was that bloke complaining Bucks was the reason for the GF2011 loss.

Would be ideal to make it more likely we get to make that pick before someone nominates Brown or Daicos. Might be 28+(one of the outgoing players) to slide up the order a few spots.
