Silly season is in full swing early this year...

Hardie says Tomlinson is looking to get to Collingwood, Brett Anderson came out today on SEN and nominated Tomlinson as a virtual lock to go to Carlton.

Lots of journos with "inside info", its really hard/ impossible to sort out the gold from the fools gold.

As long as we don't end up with another Golds, I'll be happy :)

Spot On.

So Many Jurno's giving Different Stories on who is go where

You sit there with No Idea

Adams and Treloar aren't duds though.
We've got Adams and Treloar.. Pretty bloody worth their pay checks. Try again.
Who??
Adams would be in their best 22
Treloar would be arguably their best player
Golds was taken for free as a rookie and well... Yeah.

Hoskin Elliott has the potential to be in their best 22, he's not even on our list yet...

Am I forgetting players? I really can't think of anymore but maybe I'm sub consciously not wanting to remember them?
Adams and Treloar are the obvious exceptions, even then I'm not sure Adams would be a walk up start in their midfield.
But looking over the league, miles, tomlinson (when he leaves), Bruce, WHE when he leaves, Steele when he leaves, the Carlton quartet I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. Atm the Giants are getting a decent penny for all.players who won't even be in there best 22. And when they lose guns like Treloar they get two first round picks to bolster them up.

How many teams in the AFL can lose a top 3 midfielder and replace it with a ready made Josh Kelly and get two bonus first round picks?

It's a serious worry that they currently have access to a never ending football factory.

Let's think worst case scenario here for Gws, if lobb, McCarthy, marchbank leave. They'll probably get three first round picks and two second rounds for those three alone. Add in tomlinson, WHE and Steele and we will be set for more drafts dominated by the expansion clubs via flooding with picks and access to an academy they shouldn't have access too. Anytime a star leaves they will have players such as pickett, Ahern etc in the twos to replace them with.
Obviously low round picks don't automatically mean success, but it's hard to picture when a fall will come

I'm off Tomlinson.

Watched him closely for a while now. Essentially a younger version of Jesse White.

Which is fine, but won't take us anywhere.

That's the AFLs fault for giving them such a big area to get academy players. Not much the rest of the comp can do about that.

You still didn't back up your comment before. You said we keep taking players that aren't good enough. We've taken three with one being an exception. Talking garbage.

Prestia is a shocking kick, slowish and is very small.. He's nowhere near Adams. He's Blair if Blair could find the football.
Pretty comparable imo, but yeah, he's a midget and Jesus he has a shocking DE %.

You mean the 18yo that grew up playing the game? That kicked 60+ goals in his second season at 5 per game? That won 3 AA's? That went on to be named in a club TOC? The latter achivements after doing a knee at 19 in that 13 game season.

No I wasn't around for his debut. Lets be serious here the most realstic comparisons to Cox are Peter Street and Matthew Burton.

If he goes on to carve out a career as productive as either of those two he's done well, but to even put Salmon forward in a discussion about him is strange given Salmon was a freak and Cox has shown as much natural ability as the lampost out the front of my place.

If Cox played for any other club we'd be sitting back saying yeah he's super tall, so what? Yet you've compared him to a former star. Take the black and white glasses off it'll do you some good!

Edit: at the same age as Cox is right now Salmon had kicked 300 goals. Aim for the moon though because at least if you miss you'll land amongst the stars lol.

Wow... you really enjoy attempting to demean people don't you?
I actually did see Paul Salmon as an 18 year old and in his first year he WAS all gangly and easy to push off and under the ball (bit like Mason Cox is now) but in his second season under the tutelage of Sheeds and the other Essendon talls Salmon was simply unstoppable. He DID go on to win club and AA honours and eventually got to play in his preferred ruck position after switching clubs to Hawthorn, he had a long and distinguished career.
My comparison between Mason Cox and Paul Salmon is based on those early years, obviously PS had the experience of playing junior footy but he was still growing into his body and he was still gangly and awkward at the beginning. Only time and intense "body training" (how to use ones body rather than weight training) gave Salmon his tremendous marking power, hopefully it will assist Mason Cox in similar fashion.
I may be being optimistic ( I seriously wasn't aware that that was a sin) but I see a lot of development in Mason Cox and I hope I get to see that improvement in the next few years.

BTW... Darcy Moore is the spitting image of his dad at this early stage as well. Should I be less optimistic about him as well?

WHE will add another dimension and a bit more polish to our forward flankers and we do need more of these positioned players.
To have WHE, Fasolo, Elliott and De Goey rotating through the forward half of the ground is a good building block and beats playing Blair.

However, we still need another key forward and key back.

At least we will have currency to trade i.e. Witts, Cloke, Williams etc.

Off topic, but does Prestia even really help Richmond out? lol hope the Suns make them pay heaps for him!

No to WHE and no to Tomlinson please.
As someone else pointed out, if they can't break into GWS best 22 why would we want them?
I understand WHE has had a bad run of injuries but still...

Raines and you win

Salmon was on fire that year........was on track for 100 goals and probably a Brownlow.

He was unbelievable that year.......unstoppable!

tried to find a bit of specific details about marley in here but couldn't.. whats news on him? is it just rumours he's gone. Seems to get a bit of stick here but I thnk he's a great defender when he's on.. he's coming off an injury riddled start to season wouldn't enjoy seeing him leave ( like wellers ) but would understand I guess. Anyway whats news?
Surplus really. Shaz, Ramsay, Sinclair, Langdon, Maynard, Howe. I'm probably missing 1 or 2.
Still holds some currency I would think too.

WHE has such massive upside.

Seems Fyfe like as a tall mid with strong hands.

Would be wrapped to get him.
