Cloke was never a MM boy. A big part of the reason he stayed at Collingwood in 2012 was because he preferred Buckley as a coach to Malthouse.
Thanks. Didn't at know that. It
looks so out of character for Cloke.

Can anyone do a side made up of current players who were Colligwood supporters as kids. I reckon we'd be building something scary if you played for the club who you barracked for, but then again, we'd probably dominate the competition for endless years given our huge supporter base.

My point is that Buckley doesnt have 3-5 years to rebuild. All the planning has been around a tilt at the flag by 2017.

If we are trading out our power forward and relying on a 20 year old to carry the forward line, it means we have given up on that strategy.

On that basis, Buckley has to go as well.

FWIW, i am advocating keeping Cloke and Buckley. I dont think a cleanout is required.

I am just saying that Bucks really cant afford to go down the rebuild stage. He needs results. And he needs his power forward in form.

Buckley was on SEN before and said he wants to keep Cloke and redeem him as a player.
I don't see the benefit of trading him.
KB saying he is the missing piece Richmond need and many saying he is missing piece and muttland.
Why the Eff wold we then trade him????
I think we will keep him !

Maybe trying to bump up his price, his actions dont suggest he wants him
I think we need him, play him at CHF, let him roam up the ground and double back and blow up his opponent. Hes a 100kg running beast. Thats when he is playing his best football
Plus moore will get the 2nd best defender, and with him playing close to goal, far more opportunities will come his way to hit the scoreboard.

Strip back the weight as Judd said and we could see a rejuvenated Trav. If he ups his mobility, he can still be very good for us.

unless a club offers some thing insane for cloke l would like him to be a pie next year
there is not a immediate replace for him in our list or the draft and trade. and
who knows he could find his form again

I unfortunately he is done & dusted, those few on here wanting him to stay clearly lack footy smarts!

Big call. Could you please post a copy of your 'footy smarts' resume so I can see if you actually know what you are talking about or just some ignorant nuffy judging others that have a different opinion to you.

You're the one who lacks footy smarts champ.
No ...you are incorrect...Cloke is 29. Many power forwards are finished by 29 and Cloke has regressed dramatically. We need to trade him while we can.A 2nd rounder plus Ben Lennon from Richmond would do me just fine. This is btw very poor planning by the list managers at Collingwood who must have foreseen a 29 year old power forward declining...what have they done in planning, ? Not much....very poor by Hine

We don't need Ben Lennon. Crocker will be better anyway.

The pick 2 years ago should have been Wright NOT Degoey...Degoey may end up a good player but that's not the point...the point is that succession planning for Cloke at 29 was obvious...and a priority...now look and it's not a hindsight issue...it's a no brainer planning issue. KPTalls are harder to find than midfielders

Many power forwards? Like who in particular?
Were you saying that he was finished after the GWS game or was he still in the correct age bracket then?
I'm not saying that Cloke is going to get back to his best form, my personal view if he decides, it may be better to retain him rather than get a late 2nd or 3rd round for him.
His contract is halved next year and by loosing 5-6kg, he COULD do a Richo on the wing like he did to extend his career. What is Moore gets injured and Elliott doesn't get back to his pre injury form....?

But....If a club was crazy enough to give away a late 1st or early 2nd then maybe that changes.

Hine has always preached "get the best player available" - especially with early picks - so it may be more a philosophy issue rather than lack of planning. I know what you mean , and agree to a fair extent, but they're not going to plan around something that isn't part of the recruiting philosophy .

The plan is not to plan :p

GWS are likely to want a 1st rounder for Steele and a 2nd rounder for WHE from what I can gather. What we need to add to Witts depends on where you place his value.
GWS don't want a first round for Steele and he's not worth that. He's worth a second at best.

I reckon Witts is worth around pick 15-20ish which is about half way in between the two. So Witts for WHE would be overs for us and Witts for Steele would be unders for us.

It'd be perfect if they had an interest in someone like Broomhead. Not because I don't rate him or anything like that, but I'm all for offloading players who we're used to being without in our senior team who may have an ounce of value.

Just have a feeling we've got something up our sleeve.
