Because the new coach gets the players they need.
Now you are really making a meal out of it. Either it is the coach that gets the players he wants or the players get the coach they need.
Imho it is a process issue. First new coach and he decides who goes out and who gets in.
Apparently you already know the new coach and that he doesn't want any of those players. Maybe some inside info you are not sharing?

We have a Breust type player, Howe.

If we can ever get a fit forward and backline on the park we will be ok, I think we need to stop with the 3 tall structure. The opposition move the ball out fwd line way too easily. Cox/White can be the back up ruck. Elliott and Howe play tall with their marking ability, mark of the year every week between those two.

Elliott Cox Fasolo
Howe Moore Varcoe

Howe isn't a Bruest type player, he actually nearly the opposite. Bruest always stays down for the crumbs, Howe always flies into the marking contest.

I think a lot of richmond fans would disagree with you. It's not a silly comment, if we are going after a player like that he needs to be very good by foot if not elite. It's clearly what we are lacking.

I rate Ellis higher than you obviously. He can be elite.

Some info for the people interested, if you don't believe it that's fine, keep your comments to yourself.

Swan will retire, had a little set back about a month ago which was a huge wake up call, could be a cripple if he does it again, club will pay him out his 400k for next year.

Pies have been into Hurley for months we only paid 95% of the cap this year and are offering up huge coin.

Toovey won't be a Collingwood next year.

Caff could be at Collingwood In a role around player development and the VFL, won't be on the main list though.

Perfect re: Caff. Such a good clubman and leader to have around. Can't have the impact onfield at AFL level anymore, but still a very serviceable VFL player.

Does anyone think that there
could be a direct swap for Cloke - Deledio. I would prefer the draft picks but Richmond might play it direct swap of players.

Where is Deledio at? I have always thought he was a very good player, don't know about his injuries.

Side note would love WHE at the club.

Agreed. One of the most overrated players in the comp. Doesn't get the hard ball. Always waits for the easy goals over the top.

At least he Kicks them and Good User of the Ball

I think it'd be a great result if our wonderful ballet teacher can fix his calf issues.

Only question I'd have is I assume he'd be on fair wicket, I'd like him to take a pay cut. Would be a clear best 22 for atleast 2 years I'd say.

We don't need Deledio.

This is not football, you can't just go out and buy/sell players. You need to trade and stockpile draft picks to build a team. It takes years of planning to build the team.

Trading players for picks would mean that the new coach would have to ability to choose who they draft when they come in. This way, the coach doesn't lose time (at least a year) trying to offload players to gain the necessary picks.

Rather we swap for their 2nd round pick than an overpaid & overated 29 year old.

We are going towards football. 1 yr contracts for most coaching staff already. Give it time.

Most want us believe that changing coach should reap immediate rewards. l lean towards your opinion, it takes time, years even . We are now at the backend of the building phase. Get players fit and there shouldn't be any excuses for Bucks.

Apart from that I don’t believe an coach should make an assessment of his list without having some time to take stock, observe and devise a list strategy. That takes a few months. We are way too late in the season for 2017.
A mid 2017 if things go utterly pear shaped wouldn't be a bad idea to make sure we don't lose more time.

Not sure on the answer to your question but I reckon people are getting a bit blindsighted with the romance relating to a Weideman.

Especially when he grew up as a Richmond supporter

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Has openly stated he has no real affinity for the pies.

I can understand the concept of chasing Wright though, principally because of the interstate factors at play.

Howe and Breust are really different for mine.

Both mercurial don't get me wrong. But Howe does his best work in the clouds and Breust on the ground.

Breust is a wonderfully skilled crumber and is exactly what we need.

Wright would improve the profile of our list massively.
Would set up our forward line for 10 years.

Did I read or hear somewhere that he is a Pies supporter?
Not that it counts for too much, but it's better than he hates us!

Why trade players and sack Bucks. ( slight off topic ). Either give the coach the players that he needs or vice versa.
And if we want quality, we have to give up something. Heather does alright at GWS and I have no quarrels with a similar trade for Cloke if that helps us with another young player. I rather watch a young player develop then an senior player struggling to revive his past.

My point is that Buckley doesnt have 3-5 years to rebuild. All the planning has been around a tilt at the flag by 2017.

If we are trading out our power forward and relying on a 20 year old to carry the forward line, it means we have given up on that strategy.

On that basis, Buckley has to go as well.

FWIW, i am advocating keeping Cloke and Buckley. I dont think a cleanout is required.

I am just saying that Bucks really cant afford to go down the rebuild stage. He needs results. And he needs his power forward in form.
