Collingwood's Keating looking very pleased after giving HRH a little back rub

The English media called him the ‘lizard of Oz’ after that.

The richest woman in the world dies and the world goes Gaga.
In more pressing news, related to all Victorians, our Parliament resumes in a couple of weeks and not one thing can be done by our elected representatives until they take an oath of allegiance to King Charles the 3rd.
Anyone comfortable with that?
Why even elect representatives of the people if they cannot represent without passing their loyalty to someone else other than those people? Someone on the exact opposite part of the planet.
In 2022 it simply beggars belief that this situation exists.

25% of australians dont even think democracy is much good so who cares about a new king

Very comfortable. Observing the rule of law is vitally important. It’s our bedrock.

But that can be done by pledging to uphold the constitution. Just like they do in the US …

… oh, wait. Yeah, as you say … 😳

Well Charles is remaining true to his beliefs. Has ordered that no coins, notes or stamps be made if it includes waste or additional expense (ie only changed when new ones are due).

Good for him has championed the environment and climate change for ever.

Charlie is going to find it difficult to be apolitical.

True, basically said as much in his speech. Handing the baton to William.

Then again, it is Charles so may slip up.:)

That's why we had a referendum in 1999. Blame the five hick states that voted against it, influenced by old mate J Howard. Constitutions don't have sunset clauses so we'll be a constitutional monarchy until we come up with a decent strategy for changing that, which I can't see happening quite frankly, we'll never have enough agreement on the method of electing a president.

If Collingwood win the Flag this year…McRae can be President, problem solved.
Brownlow count moved forward to Sunday 18th September.
God save the King.

Where's the respect - how come the Brownlow count has to be moved?

The Brownlow count is a struggle at the best times to get people to watch, even on a Monday night. Nobody at all would watch it if it was on at the same time as the biggest funeral in over a century.

As opposed to Irish Catholic funerals when you never know who will be the drunkest and who will win the fight.

Or you pick the wrong wake to go to. I’ve been to two funerals in the last five years, where there was a schism in the family and you had to pick between wakes.
