Did u watch the game? Clarke was serviceable. Cumberland was poor. Same performances in he practice games.
Dude cumbo has been poor because they want him to be someone his not. He is a goal kicker and a good one at that so that's f him up is dimmas moto.
And the guy is right did you watch the vfl, clark ralf did stuff all as most of them best players were the none listed.

Ralphsmith was also played out of position most of the game (it’s in the game report but coaches said he played well when he was on the wing/half back)

Cumbo was also poor during the entire pre season when Clarke was consistently improving and came 2nd in the coaches award for the pre season camp

Got to reward the guys who are putting in the work

It’s not like they are asking the world of Cumbo either
He was recruited as a mid/fwd and that is exactly what they are trying to get him to be (more potent and consistent in the midfield and high half forward role)

No players can survive in the modern game if they can only play one role or position

Selection lacked a bit of creativity for mine.

It tells me a few things.
-Cotchin will be playing a lot of midfield time.
-A big reliance will be on Shai Bolton to ignite this team tonight… I don’t know if his form will allow that.
-Mansell is starting and probably playing a full game… and that tells me we will be playing a run with role on Daicos…even though Hardwick says otherwise.
-We are backing Young in as a key defensive back again.
-Ross has only a few chances left to show he’s an AFL level player.
-Cumberland is on the outs.

George did couldn't kick nore handball but he lasted a long time. Cumbo kicks goals but he cant tackle i know who i prefer to be playing. Do you think all the goals cumbo kicked should not be rewarded? Balta was tried forward and was an abismal failure why is he still playing? ohh wait his back to his natural position.

Yeah the best form of pressure is to hit the scoreboard.

That was last year and a few great games at the end of the season shouldn’t mean automatic selection the next year if they haven’t put the work in over the pre season and shown desire and improvement

Georgie could also run and chase and play multiple positions at this point Cumbo does not

But don’t you understand, Dimma’s playing favourites again because he’s not playing their favourite.

Surely cumbo is tac sub , if it’s wet AF , Ryan pulled cumbo on
Sonsie for mine
Gets around the fitness questions, gives him automatic limited game time plus he is more versatile

I'm not the one carrying on. There is no conspiracy about why Cumberland isn't being picked, the plain and simple truth to the matter is, he isn't in form and hasn't been in form since the practice matches and season proper began. But people keep on demanding he should be picked ahead of players who are playing better and actually have the ability to play in numerous roles and have more discipline to adhere to the team defensive structure that we rely on to defend, which Cumberland currently doesn't, which is why the club is trying to train him up to be able to play in more than one position and also not be a liability defensively.
Prob coz when he came in last year , he provided an edge with his style of play that we didn’t have. And it was no co incidence that we started dialing in cricket scores ,,,I realize was t all down to him but by gingo he played his part . In r1 we struggled to score , r2 much better , still hard to fathom that he wouldn’t make us better ,,, now’s the chance

If it’s a mid ,I bet they’ll go Dow
Probably
But in terms of a sub role I would much prefer Sonsie and Cumbo

Both much more dynamic players who could potentially make big impacts late him games

I like Dow’s inside work but he’s just so one dimensional as a player

Has the round 4, 1977 vs Collingwood vibe about it - played in front of more than 91 000 fans (I was there). Turned to be a fizzer as Magpies won easily by around 20 points.

This time the prediction is about the same so hopefully we surprise them this time…
**** mate, you had to go back to 1977 to be negative? How did we go last game against the pies in the wet? Oh that's right, we won.

we havent played the campaigners under fly and leppa in the wet yet though

those campaigners know our wet weather gameplan and might use it

We did last year. And we won.

Cumberland started the practice game against North playing in the second half with the second stringers, didn't do anything of note when we played Melbourne at Casey, in the VFL practice match against Carlton he was a non factor in the half that I watched and was inconsistent in Morris' words last week against a poor Bullants outfit. On what basis should he then be picked for the seniors?

If we didn't have Martin Hopper and Short missing with injury this week, Noah probably wouldn't even be in the emergencies that is how far off selection he is at present.

That might come across as if I'm anti Noah, but it's not the case at all, on the off chance he gets named as sub(expecting Sonsie to be named), I truly hope he grabs his chance, but if not I hope he comes out at Coburg on Sunday and dominates in his new role and thrusts his name back in front of selectors, because as I've mentioned in his thread having another mid sized forward who can go into the middle and allow Martin & Bolton to spend more time forward will make our forward line even more potent than it is.
I am not really advocating him coming in until he hits some form in his new further up the ground position, but when he was promoted last season his VFL form was not that much better and many on here were saying he hasn't really earned it on form. Clarke was average last week as was HRS in the VFL.

With Martin missing Cumberland could have come in to play the role he played last season, where he excelled. He is a better AFL player than VFL as the space and speed of the game seem to suit him, so he could have come in as a known quantity. They didn't role the dice which I think is a bit conservative as his x-factor may have been handy against a good side.
