Thought he was pretty good. Was wearing 60, some players were wearing different numbers, practice game and all I guess it didn't matter.
Richards wore 9 you could have mistaken him for Nobes lol
Allan wore 29
Markov wore 47
Steene wore 43
Thanks,Jen.

I doubt a half a game extra of a vfl practice game would have any impact on fitness at this Stage. Risk v reward and all.

Exactly. Everyone looked fit enough last night, so that’s where Frampton should be prior to playing a half today. Better not to risk an injury in a nothing game.

Frampton would have been given a half to help with a bit of match fitness, and then put on ice to mitigate any risk of a possible fatigue or any other type of injury later in the match.

Got involved, even worked back into defence. Kicked 3 in the 3rd quarter. Was a good hitout for him.

Will come back better and hungrier

Also, can’t help but think a fit ( injury free ) Krueger will be a bonus in defence?

Forward experiment is killing his body!

Would love a report on goalkickers, best players and any individual highlights, if anyone has any.

Goal kickers
Q1 Begg, Richards and Glover (thanks Jen2310 ). Hard to distil Richards and Glover from the other end of the ground where I was in the 1st quarter.
Q2 Wilson and Tomawhatshisface 1 each
Q3 Johnson x3
Q4 Purcell and Richard’s 1 each

Highlights
  • Richard’s rove and snap in the last from a f50 stoppage
  • Carmicheal’s coat hanger
  • Johnson’s marking against much taller defenders
  • Wilson’s ball use of either left or right foot.
  • Bianco’s work rate
  • Steene’s tackling his Cats opponent like a tackle bag. Smashed him. Like his aggression around the stoppages.
  • The team mindset to run and carry, use of forward handball was very exciting at times. Much like the seniors, they ran hard forward but worked really hard to get back.
  • Carmicheal’s ability to stand up in a tackle and get a disposal.
  • Frampton’s spoiling in the first half, wasn’t out marked once that I can recall.

As an observations
  • it was a pretty ordinary day to play footy.
  • AIA is a shit ground to watch footy.
  • they were a much bigger side, dominated the clearances.

Also believe Richards got one of the first couple goals in the 1st quarter. Glover the other.

I was thinking similar on Kreuger as an option down back.

No Macrae or Harrison. According to the Injury report, they are a couple weeks away. They prob want more full training under them.

Score was 65 to 59.
The positive being that we were able to hold off a traditionally strong Geelong VFL outfit without them, or Frampton and Begg for the second half. Really pleasing stuff.

Probably just part of his training load, he will play defence once the season starts
Not so sure about this. I think that putting him on the wing might be a final roll of the dice to see if he can have a career. He has elite endurance, so a tall marking wingman might end up being his go.

A tall marking wingman might fit Buckley's gameplan but not our current system. I'd be more inclined to think it's a fitness program thing too and should expect to see him back at KPD. Wouldn't make sense otherwise when our KPD depth is taking an injury hit.

Maybe the plan is to go with twin tall wingers next? Ed Allan on one side and Kelly on the other. They can both really run.
