In the spirit of the gotcha questions at the election press conferences, here's a question I know the answer to but will ask anyway:
Given the Pies picked Cox, Cameron & Grundy (as well as Kreuger & McInnes) for tonight's game against Brisbane, I assume McRae will cop the same hammering Noble did for picking CCJ, X & Goldie should Collingwood get done?

This morning on the radio " poor Collingwood can't take a trick...can't get their best 22 on the park..."

Boo ****ing hoo.

On Notice: AFL, Good Friday football, Josh Kelly and the AFLW in the firing line

In last year’s Good Friday match North Melbourne failed to fire a shot leaving the club desperate to show they can perform on the big stage.

EASTER KANGAROOS

Wind the clock back 12 months and the build-up into Good Friday was all about if North Melbourne should still hold the right to the holiday slot. They then went out and got flogged by 128 points by the red-hot Western Bulldogs. That wasn’t bad enough to get them shunted from the date but surely the AFL’s patience is wearing thin.

This time around the Roos are coming off their best performance of the season and are facing a stone cold Dogs outfit which should be the recipe for a better showing. If that doesn’t happen, surely the Easter Kangaroos are cooked.

Nearest the pin who Scott flipping Gullan supports?
Saints had the spot didn’t they at the start?

Why does the form of teams only apply to some when it comes to blockbuster games...

And it's not just the perpetually rebuilding Blues that got to keep a marquee fixture in spite on on-field performance. The "definitely not tanking" Dees when they were an absolute basket case got to keep Queen's Birthday and, while this is off-field, * disgraced the entire competition by actively drug cheating and were allowed to continue playing on ANZAC Day

Don't get me wrong, would absolutely loathe a performance similar to last year, but to suggest we should have the game taken from us, while there were crickets when the aforementioned mobs were stinking up the place, is a joke

Great post, especially that first paragraph. It’s disgusting how the media are so flipping biased towards their favourite teams.

Next flog ‘media personality’ that uses us a bait, just tweet this verbatim to their lazy journalistic ass and tag Kingy in so he can give them an uppercut too..

But in all seriousness

Imagine if you were given the role of ceo

What would be your objectives for the game.

For me:

Ticket affordability

FA/Draft/Trade- adjust compo/nominated clubs/etc

Fixture- ensure over a standard period that clubs play each other the same number of times, could be multiple seasons.

Feasibility study into a national reserves system (not necessarily a league but a system to provide reserves to clubs with minimal disruption to state league sides.

Full professional umpires with association covering creation/development of rules flowing down to the umpiring and training of umpires at all levels

Investment in coaching pathways from volunteer level up to league coaching.

Scrap MRO grading system return to case by case analysis it’s clear trying to force every situation into a handful of arbitrary categories is way too difficult
I'd add long term financial stability for the game, and heavy investment in community and youth football and pathways.

FWIW, you'd get my vote.
