Ask Google maps how to bike from 1 end of Rosanna road to the other and the first direction is to get the funk off Rosanna road lolView attachment 1613838
which funny enough is a bike path. The one thing the cyclists in this thread are complaining about being a lack of....But there's no bike paths, wah wah wah.

nah, i'm only in danger as a cyclist when dickheads in cars put me in danger. i take up significantly less space, emit no carbon, don't go fast enough that i could really hurt myself or anyone else, and i even get exercise as a biproduct of getting around. i have absolutely no interest in ever driving a car because it's worse in every way to me. I ride on busy streets when those busy streets haven't been built correctly, i.e. without protected bike paths, because I don't have any other choice. Sorry that you have to pay a little bit of attention so as not to kill me, but I've got a right to be out there.
You have the right when you start paying rego.

You have the right when you start paying rego.
It's a good argument that one. They, as above, argue its not law and because the law states they have a right to be on the road then they should be allowed. They then argue that the rest of us (via our taxes) should pay for them to have bike lanes for their safety. But we're too busy paying our rego for the upkeep of the roads that we need. So they want the bike paths, but they dont want to pay for it, and then complain when we ask them to take a different safer route. And the thing is, a lot of these bike riders aren't riding to commute, they're doing it for exercise. Now, I pay to go use a gym, I pay to go use the golf course, I pay to go swim at the pool, but those self entitled cyclists won't pay a rego to contribute to the road system they say is unsafe!

Liam Boy I noticed you haven't addressed the fact that the guy hit actually had a safe bike path route he could have taken but chose not to.

i'm not familiar with that law.
That's because the law is an ass. You use you pay. Not sure why bike riders shouldnt have to register their bikes for the road. Everyone else does. Common sense don't you think?

When that happens bike riders might get more respect on the road. Free loaders

because we're not heavy enough to do significant damage to the road, and we don't pollute or cause traffic congestion.

Rosanna rd. ? Some roads you should never, ever ride a bike on.
???Sydney road???
Sitting at the traffic lights on Sunday & 2 cyclists went through the red light a car turning onto Sydney road hit the skids, he tooted his horn & 1 of the cyclists gave him the bird
If only everyone respected everyone else’s right to be on the roads

So do you know many people that pay by default to park their car in their street? Or the supermarket?
The supermarket is a trick question.

I have never understood why people ride on Sydney road when there’s a great bike path running parallel with it, only 30m away.

Looks like another year with the sound muted on Channel 7 games. There seems to be a bit of a Triple M thread running through that lot which might explain why I find them so annoying, Jason Bennett excepted.

Hopefully the radio commentary on the AFL app lines up with the vision.

Sorry mav but the cyclists should stick to cycling tracks arguement is crap. for one i cycle and out here cycling paths are almost non existent. And if you were traing for a gran fondo you simply couldnt. Whilst there is a small percentage of irresponsible cyclists the same is true for mororists. Not excusing the few cyclists that dont ride responsibly but they have as much right to use the roads as anyone else.
No one should ride a bike on Rosanna or Heidelberg road unless they have a death wish. There is the Yarra River a few hundred metres away with a track beside it. Motorists know it and drive with little sympathy for assholes making things worse. Rosanna has back streets that easily connect for cyclists. Rosanna road is how trucks currently get from the Monash freeway to the start of the western ring road until the term year north east link project linking the two major arterials in completed. Look at it on I map if you doubt me.

The cyclist, as the retired local vicar who used to settle such disputes before infrastructure became an issue for people says, is a dickhead or a moron, or an arrogant ass-hat, or both.

Jesus F Christ I shouldn't go here but roads are paid for through taxes. Paying rego won't stop you being hit by a truck or stop aggro dickhead motorists being pissed off that you're in "their" space.

I don't know that path but I used to think the same on St Georges Rd. There's a concrete path going down the median but some people ride on the road anyway. Then I rode the median and found that you have to stop every few hundred metres, it's harder for you to see cars turning and for them to see you and that there are pedestrians so you have to go slowly. It's like having the choice between taking a freeway and a regular road with traffic lights and, argh, bikes on it.

As to what some people have posted above, while I always preferred to go on my mountain bike on bike paths when I used to bike commute, pre covid, some people are going a long way and winding their way through back streets means taking twice as long. You then have to cross main roads full of traffic without traffic lights to get onto the next side street. It's not necessarily safer and takes twice as long. People should just park their "they must be arrogant" bs. You wouldn't do it in your car either.
