Thanks Basil. I just want to give you a bit of an insight into the Saturday afternoon team. We’re a bunch of unique individuals – Malthouse, Harley, Zempilas, McLachlan and myself. We’re gonna engage with our minds and our hearts. We’re gonna exchange ideas, thoughts and even our energy. And to speak from your heart you need to have courage. You need to be honest and authentic. We’re not always gonna get it right. And sometimes, you’re not going to agree with us. But that’s okay, because just like you we care. Just like you, we’re passionate about the game. So if you want to come along for the ride, join us on Saturday arvos, because we just love the footy.

I’m not a Victorian so I’ll leave the commentary to others; however, in an 88 seat Lower House where Governments are formed, the Greens currently hold a grand total of four.
go look at the inner city seats they didn't win and look at how much closer they are compared to 10 years ago, whilst your tally is sound its not that cut and dry.

Lidges Lounge is a cavern of echoes waiting for political debate

Take it there

Nothin whatsoever to do with North media news
Mr Zempilas rarely if ever spoke well of North. Now he's speaking in a disrespectful manner of women's tennis. He had dropped his guard and was speaking his opinion honestly which shows that he is a knob (already stated by TBL) and it validates my opinion that any disparaging remarks he's ever made in the past lack credibility.

That isn't a political statement either. I'd say the same whether he's standing for the Libs, One Nation, Palmi's Peanuts or the Nat's.

When's this on Brett?

I'm in Dunkley. The by-election might be interesting as there's a large population of cookers in this area. To sate Gasometer 's footy content concerns, a lot of them barrack for Richmond, Collingwood or Carlton. Outside of family, the only North supporters I actually know around here are Chardy (X) and Paul (the guy who wears the white overalls with the names of every North player embroidered on) so don't expect too much sense in the media from Dunkley.

I’m talking about the debate on the decline or not of Victoria

I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt here. What he said makes more sense in the context he's mentioned.

Still ******* hilarious lol. Even when he tries not to be a bumbling w***er, he's a bumbling w***er

He meant it.

Never forget he’s a campaigner.

I’ll never forgive him for completely ruining Taylor Garner’s hanger in Perth by getting his name wrong, but it’s pretty clear when you listen to the full audio what he meant.

I must say, the smartest thing would have been to shut up and wait for this to blow over. But old Baz has poured petrol onto the fire...

Always had eyes for more limelight and a job as big as his snozz… he ain’t in my electorate though which is good

A magistrate has slammed a young man who bashed retired AFL star Jack Ziebell warning him he was lucky not to be jailed for his “vile, repugnant” conduct.
Ibrahim Behluli, 21, was on Thursday handed a $25,000 fine with conviction over the vicious assault that left the former Kangaroos’ captain with a broken nose outside The Osborne Bar in South Yarra in August last year.
Behluli, who pleaded guilty to affray and intentionally causing injury, was asked to stand as magistrate David Starvaggi warned him he would be jailed if he reoffended.

“Your conduct was nothing short of reprehensible, you acted in a vile, repugnant and utterly stupid manner. If you engage in this sort of conduct again in the future, short of a miracle, you will be jailed for a substantially long time,” he told Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
“And make no mistakes, be under no misapprehension, you didn’t get away with anything because that fine is significant for a young man of your age.
“You actions are to be denounced in the highest possible nature.”

Prosecutors pushed for a prison term but Behluli’s lawyer Anthony Malkoun pointed out his client’s young age, his plea of guilty and that he handed himself into police.
“There is a lot of utility and benefit to the way it’s been dealt with,” he said.
“The plea allowed them (victims) to get on with their lives rather than waiting around for the (court) process.”
The court was told Ziebell and his wife submitted victim impact statements but did not want them to be read out in open court.
The footballer was celebrating with teammates and staff hours after playing his final game when he was set upon by Behluli in the early hours of August 20.
Ziebell left the bar to check on a friend after he was told teammates had been involved in a fight with Behluli’s group when he was pushed into a wall and punched in the face.

Ziebell, who was hospitalised with a broken nose and cuts to his face, had his arms by his side and was not prepared for the attack.
CCTV footage of the incident showed Behluli then kicking Ziebell, who played 280 games for North Melbourne, as he lay on the ground before leaving with his mates.
Last week the court was told the bashing was sparked by an earlier scuffle involving teammates Charlie Comben and Curtis Taylor.
Security footage inside the bar showed an argument between Comben and Behluli and his friends Masihullah Rawani, 27, and Abdul Karim, 29.
Karim was seen placing his arms around the head of Comben’s friend before he was pushed on to a bench seat.

Comben fell on to the seat during the scuffle before Behluli was seen jumping on to the bench and striking him in the back of the head six times.
Another player, Curtis Taylor, pulled him off his teammate before Behluli’s group were kicked out by security about 12.52am.
Another patron was also struck and kicked in the groin during the affray.

Ziebell, who was not involved in the confrontation, then left the bar a short time later where he was set upon by Behluli.
Rawani was handed an $1800 fine with conviction for behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place over the initial altercation, while Karim also admitted involvement but had his charges dismissed.
Wearing a mask, sunglasses and black puffer jacket with the hood up, Behluli refused to comment as he left court.

What a ****ing joke.
"Handed himself in" - Didn't he wait more than a day and for the news to do the rounds before doing that? Hardly a sign of repentance.

Ziebell should have been allowed 3 free shots (by him or a nominated person) as a part of the pissweak sentence.

Felt for sure that he was going to get a jail term after some of the language the judge used for the bloke who didn't even throw any punches.

“Your conduct was nothing short of reprehensible, you acted in a vile, repugnant and utterly stupid manner. If you engage in this sort of conduct again in the future, short of a miracle, you will be jailed for a substantially long time,”

And yet not even a suspended sentence.

What a flipping joke. Hopefully somebody out there remembers the bloke’s name and takes proper retribution.

That's not right.
