What a load of horse shit, especially this bit.

“So Collingwood players (were) anticipating that they were going to hear a call post-whistle.”

They need to wait for the whistle.
You're 110% right to highlight that as it is 110% wrong of the AFL to even put that out, then to double down and claim Collingwood was the victim here because the play-on call should have happened - well that's the straw that broke the camel's back IMHO.

This whole shambles is based on utter crap. Scott didn't try to play on and he raised his arm to indicate to the umpire that he was taking the kick. He then gestured to indicate that he believed he should be awarded a 50 but the umpire seemed to call play on at that stage (wrongly).

This was a stuff up of the highest degree by the umpire(s) and it was one of at least three where the Collingwood players were given latitude when on other occasions, a player on the mark who grits his teeth would be at risk of giving away 50.

There are absolutely no consequences to the error. The score is in the books. North gain nothing, Collingwood loses nothing. The umpires might be pushed back to a lower league next week but they still get a pay cheque. The AFL officials don't lose if they are honest, but the so-called explanation published today might just be bad enough to have an ongoing media backlash. Who knows? The media haven't played the game quite the way the AFL would have anticipated today and everybody, even the apologists know that the concocted tale contravenes the Laws of the Game regarding the necessity for the umpire to call play-on, and the mandate to pay 50 if the protected zone is infringed.

And to those who claim that this was an issue of communication as opposed to an error of officiating, well both might be true, but regardless, this was an error of officiating. So were the earlier ones where 50 wasn't paid. This happened three times in one match.

I have not watched any recent non-north games and I don't intend to do so any time soon. I enjoy footy, I love North but I hate the AFL and I don't trust it in any aspect.

Thought she was good with us.

All I’ve heard this year is legal speak and bullshit parroting from her constituents above. Absolute company campaigner
It’s one thing to be a bullshitter on behalf of a branch office.

It’s a completely different matter to be a bullshitter on behalf of HQ.

Lying to your former colleagues and employers on behalf of your new colleagues and employers is a pretty stupid way to go about things, I’m afraid.

The way she defended the Melbourne medical staff after Petracca went to hospital sounded like bullshit - and this latest statement is definitely bullshit. Can’t see her lasting much longer if she keeps going on like this. No one will trust her.

Has anyone explained why it took 15 seconds and 150 meter wind back for sheezel to get his free kick in the pocket?
And again, no 50-metre penalty despite Collingwood running the ball from the pocket all the way to the opposite wing. It's bizarre.

In other games recently, I've seen and heard umpires telling players several times not to play on, not to kick the ball, and not to give away a 50. Surely that's not their job. If players decide to kick the ball away after a whistle, that's surely on them.

But what would I know? Apparently, the whistle is irrelevant, and marks and free kicks now only count when the umpire says stand.

The rule book doesn’t say the umpire has to call stand. He obvious didn’t think it was play on because he called it once he ran off the line.
Fifty for sure.
Idiot Kane.
Kane is coming across as a moron or a patsie. How much sh!t can one person sprout in a single year. Constantly speaks garbage. You wouldn’t think the AFL could get any more slimy and pathetic. But here we are.

The umpire gave Sheez the free kick for holding the ball then called advantage when the Collingwood player picked it up and played on.

You can't make that shit up.

Laura Kane is a politician and she has always been a politician. Her career trajectory says so.

So she is naturally perfectly fit for the AFL, a corrupt political organisation, and not a national football league administration.
she also has the DEI card in her favour

Laura has poured petrol on an issue that would have already been moved on from with a very simple “we got it wrong”

Her entire reasoning is horseshit and frankly quite dishonest, at no point did Scott try to play on straight away.

She’s ensured this will stay in the media cycle for a few more days and loads even more pressure on the question marks of her suitability and capability to do that job.

Because the stupid maggot played advantage to Collingwood and the pies cleared it down the back flank and wing. Maggot must have been watching a different game.
He automatically assumed it was the filths free - as 86% of them were in the 2nd half

I was perplexed by that, equally so when Collingwood played on in another play to miss a goal and was brought back for no advantage, and yet I still have no clue why a 50 (and resulting goal) was paid against Tommy P.

That was because Tom didn't hand deliver the ball to Daicos on a literal silver platter before bowing at his feet, cleaning his boots and launching into a Shakespearean monologue on what an unbelievable player Nick is - hence the 50

The AFL doesn't want to highlight the fact that they approved the jumper clash and their own umpires couldn't tell the teams apart in that moment.

Jesus, Whateley and Robbo absolutely teed off at the u piring errors and this ludicrous “explanation”.
So they should have.

Major World conflicts have started over less.

A million eyeballs witnessed one of the greatest sporting heists in history.

The only people in denial are the marauding hordes of Filth supporters, their smug Coach and the AFL.

What goes around.

Even if he did play on, the umpire didn’t call it. So it’s irrelevant.
