Confession here if you picked the roos for the spoon

compare them to other affluent clubs. many of the roos players could have bailed on that club, and gone somewhere else e.g. swallow, boomer harvey, sinclair, to name just a few

but all stuck by the roos, and its evident in the way they play footy. no material bullshit, just footy, and they fly the flag, they play for one another. whether this is making space, tackling, shepherding, having his teamates back, no one demonstrates pride and affinity like the roos

the closest comparison i can make is comparing a team like chelsea to a team such as borough or wigan...watch chelsea play man u for the title, then watch one of these teams battle to stay in the top flight (06/07 season). one plays with pride, passion and integrity, and as a team, the other plays with arrogance, and look like a jig-saw. its not an easy thing to explain unless you watch it firsthand, but its quite amazing when you do see it. its like watching the roos, not blessed with talent, but a real team mindset.

they impress me big time, and i wish them all the best, and hope wc can learn a thing or two from this club, as im sure other clubs will in future seasons. hopefully the roos have cast us back to a brighter time in football, one where there was actually pride in the jumper

Never read anything so sickening, the Kangaroos the only team with real team passion and pride? Pshhh!! Sydney were written off as wooden spooners in 2003, only to play in a prelim that very year, followed by a semi, then went on to win the flag the next year. No pride? give me a break!

its funny, after a couple of hours thgought, i thought about this very factor, and what i witnessed by the swans clawing back at us in last years gf, so i had just logged back onto bf to comment about this very situation, when i read your post

I picked them to finish last and the tip was looking really good after 3 rounds. To their credit they have done extremely well. I cant see them beating Port over there though, but if they do, lets hope the pies get up because if they play the cats again, they will just get smashed.

I think you are wrong with the whole team pride thing. Every team has pride, thats why they play footy.

As for your comments about what Laidley should say to Carey. Your the dickehead for mentioning this, if you listen to Carey all along. He never stated Laidley couldnt coach, just said he wasnt the face for the Kangaroos if they want to move forward.

Blind Turn you have been listening to the Duck's post Roo success spin to much!

I had us in the 8 (8th spot).:thumbsu:

On the other hand, I had both Collingwood & Port Adelaide in the bottom 4, and Geelong missing finals in 9th.

I'll gladly make a confession, but you won't get an apology.;)

I picked them to come last and picked them to lose for a fair chunk of the regular season too.

I'm still picking them to lose this week and will definitely pick them to lose the following week if my tipping continues to work for them.

i had a $10 bet with my kangas friend as to who would finish higher this year. i wasnt confident we'd have a great season, but i was confident that we'd finish higher than the roos, because i did pick them for the spoon. gee that blew up in my face. but even though i have a complete geelong family, i'm barracking for the kangaroos all the way this season. they truly are the meaning of team spirit and pride.

I did, i wont lie, and i still stand with that decision. They did not look the goods at the end of last year, but im glad they proved me wrong, They showed what a lot of AFL teams are missing aand thats HEART and PASSION for the game. They are not the most skillful team but thats playeed for the love of the game and the love of the jumper and for that my repsect for them has increased 10 FOLD.

Goosd luck in the finals ROO's you guys deserve too be their. :thumbsu:

Again another guilty person. I still couldn't even bring myself to pick the Roos to win twice during the season, I only tipped them against Carlton and the Bulldogs in the last round.
Here was my ladder:

West Coast
Bulldogs
Melbourne
St Kilda
Fremantle
Sydney
Hawthorn
Geelong

Port Adelaide
Richmond
Brisbane
Carlton
Collinwood
Essendon
Adelaide
Kangaroos

Only 50% of the team I had in the top 8 made the finals, and 3 of my bottom four made the finals. And we will all be surprised by a team like the Demons and the Bulldogs next year, I had tipped them both for the Grand Final this year.
Who were the most dissapointing?
Bulldogs down 11 places
Demons down 11 places
Richmond down 7 places
Fremantle down 6 places
St Kilda down 5 places

We are all experts in March, but by the time Sepember comes around, our predictions look uneducated at best.
