Re: Either way this Burgoyne trade will cost us a premiership.

If we hadn't participated in trade week at all we'd stll be a premiership chance next year.

Recruits in Gibson & Burgoyne to cover Dew & Croad is favourable.

Taylor & Renouf can hold their own especially when you consider we have added a quality mid.

Just heard Burgoyne is now a Hawk.

Pick 9, 16 and Jay Nash to Port
Willo to Ess
Distribution of picks 24, 41 and 50 something TBA...most likely to us and Ess given Port have done extremely well.

Just on SEN.

Re: Burgoyne deal done

Whitey TRADE NEWS: Burgoyne deal appears done. Jay Nash to Port is the new part of the complicated deal with Bombers to get another pick in the 30s

So, I wonder what the full details are.

well i cant help but have this sick feeling in my stomach that we've been completely screwed over...

Official: Burgoyne a Hawk

Finally, just annouced, source SEN (Tony Sheehan from the Herald Sun)

Port recieve: 9 + 16 + Nash
Port loose: 24 + 40 + Burgoyne

Essendon recieve: Williams
Essendon loose: Nash + 16

Hawthorn loose: Williams + 9
Hawthorn gain: Burgoyne

Picks 24, 40 and a pick in the 50's to be allocated tomorrow.

4th club also said to be part of the deal (yet to be announced yet but the above seems to be the deal minus the 4th clubs involvement)

Re: Burgoyne to Hawks?

This rumoured fourth club involved worries me a bit. I really hope we don't have to send a Kennedy or a McGlynn to Sydney and then forward the resultant pick to Port or Essendon as well.

Shaun Burgoyne had better be a great player for our club.

Re: Burgoyne deal done

On the AFL website.

Burger to hawks
Willo To dons
pick 9 and 16 to port.

All the best willo, im hurting over the loss thanks for the memories but out of all clubs to go to, the scum is where he will end his career :(

he was on the decline anyway, it was best to move him on whilst he had some trade value

Think you are being a little bit dramatic.
I'll reserve my judgement to see what the actual deal is and how WE perform next year.
Wish Willo all the best, but sometimes people need a change to extract the best in them or for them to be happy.
Who knows? perhaps everyone is a winner in this deal. Then again perhaps not. Only time will tell.

Re: Burgoyne deal done

Then we splash another 2 draft picks on Gibson.

.

One pick given only.

One swapped.

In this draft, not much difference for us whether it was 41 or 69

Re: Official: Burgoyne a Hawk

Interesting beacuse Peter Rohde said on 5AA 4 clubs were involved.
Seems very lopsided with Port getting a super deal. 2 first round picks 9 plus Nash who I know nothing about.

Essendon ripped off, Williams is not worth pick 16, let alone Nash even if he is a dud. I'd rather keep 9 + 16.

Yeh so does the AFL website, I think the point is though a deal is now done, in essense it will see 9 + willo from us for burgoyne (and a pick, well i'm hoping at least), some minor details may need thrashing out, but every journo is saying it is done, rhode said it is finalised, paperwork just needs to be done is all.

I dont think im being dramatic... i dont mind if willo has to go- if the trades have to happen.... BUt pick 9 and 16 to port... that is ridiculous.

Re: Burgoyne deal done

Possibly snare a 2nd round pick which we can on trade to Griffen. Seriously lopsided at this stage.

I'd be happy with Burger + Gibson and Griffen

Re: Burgoyne deal done

2 first round draft picks for 1 player? Are you bloody kdding? We better be getting something else.

We also lose Williams.

We splash another 2 draft picks on Gibson.

Hawks have been well and truly screwed this trade period. Pelchin needs to **** off now.

Have you read or listened to anything that CLarko and Pelchin have said during this trade period? Why do you think we took a heap a young (17 year olds) picks last year? they knew full well that they could take a few guys last year instead of this year and then trade early picks on top ups.

Depiste whatever any of us think, i'm pretty sure they have a plan that is penned for the long term and doesn't vary dependent on the emotions they feel this week.

Just remember, they thought Dew was a good idea a few year ago.
If they think that Burgs is a good idea, then i'll go with them and wait for them to be proven wrong.

Just my two cents worth.

Re: Official: Burgoyne a Hawk

I'm happy enough for this deal for the Hawks, but jeez, Port should be VERY happy! I know nothing about Nash, but 2 first round picks & a player! Good job Port..... I wouldn't be too happy as a scum supporter though :D

Seems incomplete to me. Dons.

Re: Either way this Burgoyne trade will cost us a premiership.

Im concerned with some of the responses in here about wasting another pick on another midfielder.
If anything that was one of our major struggles this year, our defence wasnt as bad as people make it out to be, it needed a top up and we got it with Gibson.
We lacked outside running midfielders to complement Changa this year due to Youngy being out for the majority of the season, so by going for Burgoyne i think its a very good decision by the club.
