The "this move is for Reid" narrative is just a cop-out.

Even Reid would know that another young elite midfield talent would be much better than Liam Baker (who cant string a sentence together) and short-bloke who was bound for VFL.

Lets hope we dont look back at the draft and say we could have had a such and such a player, but we gave away pick 3 to get Baker. Baker at best is around pick 20-30 anything higher than that he can stay at Richmond or Freo can be foolish enough to give a high pick away for him.

All the people talking about cancelling their memberships while the board is like:

angry season 3 GIF
Which is basically why the answer is to boo Liam Bakers every touch. Sad but reality

This looks like a dark day for the club.

Having sat through the debacle of the last three seasons, I was enthused by the recent off-field changes. I had hope that out of this horrific bottoming out period we might now be going to start building our next dynasty. But it would appear otherwise.

I can only assume the club feels the draft is an even one and the gap between player quality picks 3 and 12 is much less than most years, because Baker and Owies seems like a wafer-thin return for sliding from 3 to 12. It's a decision that reeks of short term thinking yet ironically the minor improvement to our squad is unlikely to lift us far up the ladder even in the short term.

The Kelly trade looks terrible in retrospect but you could understand at the time that the club was taking a swing at another flag while the premiership window lasted. The split pick for Ginbey and Hewett made sense given top players in the draft not wanting to move to WA and, if Hewett gets over his injury issues, could still turn out quite good. But this schmozzle? It's difficult to see any justification for it.

Once a player pulls on an Eagles jumper I support them, so good luck to Baker and Owies. I hope they surpass my expectations. But it's A-grade players that get fans excited, that premiership sides are built around. We are so much less likely to get one at 12 than at 3. Can only console ourselves that we probably would have chosen poorly with pick 3 anyway.

So far, our reward for three years of absolute mediocrity has been Chesser, Ginbey, Hewett and Reid, with no priority picks. Given that Harley is no guarantee to stay at West Coast longer term (probably more likely to leave as a result of this trade), that's not a great return. I fear we'll be dwelling in the bottom half of the ladder for the next decade.

I still can’t get over this … almost stop supporting this club worthy.

Soft, heartless, dumb and ZERO F*CKIN HEART
WE really needed to pair quality players with Harley... he is wanting success and we do this.
At the end of Harleys contract he is off, gone, bye bye.
Kings of the big game my arse.
