I agree but you don’t give up a top 3 pick to get these uncontracted aging players in the door.

Yes you need older mature heads etc but you can get them for a lot less than we paid.
You see teams making these silly down trades when they need points for academy or father sons. I think wce stands alone doing this for uncontracted older players. What has this club become.

Is Matt Clarke really gonna ignore the supporters and the media telling them this is a s**t deal?

It's all good, he gets to be close to his lover Baker.

That's all he needs.

Worst in all sports.

They operate it as a business, not a sporting club. The lot of them need to go to Woolworths and try to rack up dollars at the expense of hard working Australians there and leave us all alone

Yeah but we have lots of diversity and tick almost every single minority group off so it’s a fantastic board, the new guys will all get welcome to country and a smoking ceremony and just remember we can’t change the song because as it says “ our club knows it’s more than winning”

Is it still considered melting when it's legitimately one of the worst trade decisions ever considered?

We reportedly knocked back 3 for 12 and 14 previously, but now we're throwing in our late picks too haha
We just accepted the original offer

61 + 68 for 73 + Owies is its own deal in all reality

Yeah, the profits go to the WAFL and AFL (and other AFL clubs) anyway so who gives a shit if you make money

Players in :

Graham, L Baker, Owies, Pick 12, Pick 26, Pick 73(Champion - maybe)

Players out :

Barrass, Darling, Jones, J Baker, Trew, ????

Of the uncontracted Burgiel, Witherden, Culley, Rotham, and L Edwards we only now need to delist one. Maybe two if we choose to use a pick in the rookie draft

For a side that needed to regenerate its list this falls well short of expectations

I usually try to defend the club in most instances and at least try to see the reasoning behind their decisions, but this is indefensible

Mate you still trying to defend the club in this post in all reality

Just call it absolutely shit and move on like the rest of us.

No players in and players out list can make this better

The club's confidence in shifting back in the draft really is something.

For the best part of the past 15 years, our first crack has been in the early teens and we've squibed the pick in most cases.

The opportunity arises to finally bring in elite talent, and we say no thanks. As a supporter base, we've sat through some of the most atrocious footy over the past three years, and the club is pursuing mid table mediocrity rather than getting the important cogs in place that will have us contending.

I don't buy this notion that getting experienced players in will make us more competitive, and thus make retaining Reid easier.

Surely it's an easier sell if you look around and see the support coming through from fellow up and comers.

So disappointed. And we still have Barrass to transact on. They'll probably sell us some magic beans.

I know it’s an emotional time for everyone, but I’d just like say Baker is a lifelong WC fan, and I’m looking forward to him playing for our club! Pretty safe bet he’ll be top 6 B&F.
Yeah definitely think he'll be a great addition to the Eagles.

From day 1 though I was worried about using pick 3 in some way for him.

So where to from here?
If we trade Barrass to the Hawks, maybe it lands a F1 and F2, or in miraculous circumstances two F1s.

F1 + 12 for 6 once (if) Richmond have it?

Would effectively render our shifts as:
OUT
3, Barrass
IN
6, F1(or 2), Baker, Owies

Which is, I guess, less immediately tragic maybe I suppose.

Go Eagles!

So we are destroying our rebuild and helping Carlton and Richmond get stronger...
Absolutely putrid behaviour.
When Pyke replaced Nesbitt, we thought that this this club would move into the right direction. How wrong we were...
Pyke to date has shown shocking leadership decisions - he's well out of his depth. Nisbett wouldn't have allowed this mess. The disgraceful kelly trade was at least for a top player at the time. This pyke trade is a new all time low.
