Yep fair call, if it was North's first you guys would be getting shafted hard.

The deal as reported has Port making out like bandits with both North and us getting solid unders. Why would you guys facilitate such a scenario with a contracted #1 draft pick and why would we entertain such a scenario, especially when we are now tying a first-round pick to a Port, whom we are helping to get better in 2023?

They've always been shit to deal with.

Yeah I don't buy this at all.
We have 30odd years of evidence that we are a well run club despite season 22 debacle. We don't suddenly get a dose of the stupids.

I'm sure there are Fox Sports writers who read these forums and make s**t up to see how much outrage they can conjure. They hit a jackpot here.

Calling this one bullshit.

Every single credible reporter has confirmed the story, Rhino the only one who hasn’t said anything so hopefully he comes in and puts the smoke out, because I feel so flat right now lol

Eagles gain: 8, 33, future first
Eagles lose: 2, Rioli

Roos gain: 2, Bonner
Roos lose: Horne-Francis

Port gain: Horne-Francis, Rioli
Port lose: Bonner, 8, 33, future 1st

Looks sliiiiiiightly more balanced?

I’d say that’s somewhat fair, although Port would still be laughing.

Still I think when trading pick 2 you should absolutely be coming away from that deal knowing you won it, in this case I do not feel like that at all

Not sure what I’m missing.

Call it 2 and 30 for 8 and 14. Seems fine, especially given it could also be a lot better than 14?

Would obviously always take another pick chucked in for a lol, but is that really that bad?

Everyone’s been saying for months how much of a muchness the top players are in this draft after Ashcroft, but now the Eagles are testing that theory and we’re all melting about it?

Could also be 18.

So we go to the draft with 8 20 26 and 40

Walk away with

Am hoping for more from Port so will hold judgement on Rioli for free
Might be able to bundle something up with Sydney or with Essendon to go forward in the draft

Get 2 guns in 2023

Plenty of details to come to hand - and nobody has said we are taking it.

I suspect the Pieman is going to be busy tonight getting his BATNA (Best Alternative Taken to a Negotiated Agreement)
GWS and Suns - what would you be willing to do.

Compare and contrast the offers

GWS and Suns both have pretty stacked hands. Lets us go back to Port and ask for more tomorrow morning.

I think we should be getting more, honestly feel like you could trade down multiple times on draft night and come away with better value

That's fine if it goes down like that.

It's effectively two separate deals (Rioli <> 33, 2 <> 8 + F1) just rolled into one.

2 is fairly close in value to 8 + ~14. Why throw in 30 (roughly Rioli's worth) for free?

If that part's fine, why are we then adding Rioli in for free? Rioli will effectively be playing against us next year and with each game he helps them win, that first pick becomes worse and worse.

Could also be 18.
Sure, so 2 and Rioli for 8 and 18.

2 for 8 straight up is robbery and Rioli for 18 straight is robbery.

Say Rioli is worth pick 30 which is where we all seemed to think it was near enough to.

2 and 30 for 8 and 18. Not a good trade but hardly a complete howler in my book.

Will give us plenty of ammo in next year’s draft that is allegedly sooooo much better according to the BF experts. With the potential that it could rise right up.

Dunno. Hardly a home run trade for us where we laugh to the bank but don’t see it as a loss, just reallocating where we’re putting our resources.

Cause the 30 in there is Rioli, not actually sending pick 30.

Hmm fair enough folks. I’m seeing it differently to the majority.

Will regularly admit to not being a draft watcher but all year I’ve listened to how even the top tier is in this crop after Ashcroft, and how next year’s draft is so much better that it’s not even comparable. Drop off from who we get at 2 to who we get at 8 shouldn’t be massive based on all the talk on the board all year.

Eagles seem to see it the same way, BigFooty draft watchers get to put their nuts on the table and see if they were right, but now we all hate the move.

Not sure.

Hope Port implode, sack Ken and ride out a meek bottom six finish with an interim coach.
