How do you value Port's future 1st?

Horn-Francis will not add much in 2023 - solid but not a star.
Boak will 35 be next year
Wines has not followed up on his Brownlow year - not even close
Still undersized in defence
Dixon will be 33 next year
Gray retired

Lycett will be back
Rozee will be a star
etc

Port still have Ken in the driver's seat -nice guy but can he really deliver the goods?

Port's 2023 Round 1 could be anything from 8 to 15.

If 8 - we have won significantly and Monocle will be going home with a :eggplant:
If 15 - we will still be getting a very good pick equivalent to pick 8 this year

Those 2 picks will land us a KPF and a gun mid

So pick 8 will get us something very similar in midfield capability that we would have got at pick 2 (McKenzie is looking my choice) and we get to go with our pick and Port's pick in a draft year looking similar to 2018 strength in the first round.

I think this year has really emphasized how lucky I have been to be an Eagles supporter....up until now.
Terrible year on field and now we finally get another top 3 pick and we trade it for pick 8 (9) and what could potentially be another pick in the teens???
I wouldn't even do it for pick 2 let alone pick 2 and Rioli......
Going to have to hope Port slides again in 2023 but I don't think it'll happen.
Cats win a premiership, get in Bowes and may still have a pick before us even though we had a 2win season.

And now I don't even have the draft to look forward too, going to be a long wait for 2023 draft.

It's says:
In essence, the proposed deal would see the Power gain Junior Rioli and Horne-Francis, the Eagles double their first-round picks and North hold pick No.2 as well as their current pick No.1, likely with other picks involved.

"Sure, pick 2 is pick 2, but Port's future 1st could be anything, even a pick 2!"

There's gotta be more to it than the above, how flipping stupid would it be to trade 2 and steak knives (he's become) Rioli for 8 and an 11+ future.
It's literally insane.
And it's all to help port and nth...FK THAT!

Maybe it’s just the 14 minute mark of the third term of the 2006 game there…
Our list management team going to need some of Benny’s half time pills then

Or maybe they’ve found an old stash before doing this deal

* There may be some additional details to the trade we haven’t seen but I’m far from confident.

We’ve been shrewd with pick swaps in the past. I’m sceptical we will be bent over here.

The more I think about it the more confident I am we are not doing that deal
Especially with the clubs statements of wanting Amon Compo (27) plus more for Rioli.

That was clearly just a bit of posturing at 27 is at the top end of Rioli's value... But it would make no sense to then just throw him in as steak knives.

They must have it wrong. It must be North's future first.

Port's future first is an insane deal. They're very unpredictable and probably have the widest finishing range of any club in 2023, but they are a pretty decent chance to rise back up and finish top four.

North are bottom four next year, at best.

The stupid thing is there is a very viable option for Rioli - pick 33. It's pretty much bang on value. What impetus is there for us to even give the slightest s**t about JHF getting to Port? Especially if we are tying a pick to Port Adelaide, this only going to improve them in 2023.

Yeah, we aren't giving a 1st round pick player and a future 1st for pick 2 and steak knives. This is a shit deal for both of us.

Port won’t finish below 12th so the best we can get is pick 7

They’re also capable of making a prelim so something around 15-16

Or anywhere in between obviously

They’re getting JHF and Rioli for pick 8 and 7-15 somewhere plus maybe a bit of loose change

Surely ****ing not

Yeah, we aren't giving a 1st round pick player and a future 1st for pick 2 and steak knives. This is a s**t deal for both of us.
I think all of us not wearing teal and black and crying about prison bars (though they have a point re: bars) realise it's a poxy deal. This smoke has to be coming from somewhere though

I never understood that thinking myself. Thought it was incredibly overs in our favour
People don't trade top 2 picks (well most teams don't). So any deals have to be overs (normally) to get them done. You just don't give up access to best 1 or 2 players in the draft. Especially for clubs who need the top end talent

I'd imagine that somewhere probably rhymes with "Hot can of AIDS"
