Nic Nat - currently injured, return date unclear

Jamo - not AFL standard at this stage

BBBW - not consistently AFL standard

Barnett - promising, but too young to carry the ruck at this stage

Jilliams - currently injured, young, undersized

Is this really our biggest area of need?

i have come to the conclusion we wont come last did you see Gold coast they were pathetic, i think if we win more than 5 we have had a good year.

All depends if there are any decent ruck prospects in the MSD but otherwise no chance we are so desperate that we'll be really needing a stopgap ruckman halfway through the year.

How likely is head office to take a round 1 pick from them due to the whole clarko/ racism situation?

Arrghh..... good point ........... I forgot about that.

Would be comical if they finish last and then loose the first pick in the draft.

Let's all petition, all media outlets and talkback radio, stating that it would be moral bankrupt and grossly socially irresponsible if the AFL didn't do so.

I suspect the outcome will be the same as the Melbourne tanking one - officially nothing found but they'll fine the club and penalise the named individuals (except for Clarko) for some very vaguely phrased reason.

Later it will emerge that they found 'no evidence' of racism by deciding to reject all evidence of racism.

Gold coast will finish 8th or 9th. Its the tanking Hawks who are shit and North who are a few injuries away from being a basket case again

An interesting scenario if we finish bottom 4 again. Do we trade the pick away again? I would prefer quality over quantity especially if our pick gets pushed back by academy and bs compo picks.

Before that, we should fight tooth and nail to seize Gold Coast's first round pick if they finish somewhere between 9th-12th. Them giving it up would be likely if it landed there in order to gather points for their NGA kid, Jed Walter.

Assuming we upgrade Culley and Hurn retires

The delists look to be out of:

Greg Clark
Sam Petrevski-Seton
Jake Waterman
Luke Foley
Xavier O'Neill
Rookies
Connor West
Isiah Winder
Zane Trew

If 5 picks out of the first 30 again being our goal we need to find 2 more. Currently 8,26,33

Looking back at previous seasons ladders positions there haven’t been many worse seasons than Norths and ours last year.

2022 Nth 2wins 55.8%
2021 Nth 3 wins 70%
2020 Crows 3 wins 64.4%
2019 Suns 3 wins 60.5%
2018 Blues 2 wins 59.3%
2017 Lions 5 wins 74.3%
2016 Bombers 3 wins 60.1%
2015 Blues 4 wins 64.8%
2014 Saints 4 wins 60.8%
2013 Giants 1 win 51%

Most years 3-4 wins gets you the spoon hard to see more than 4 wins with us already losing to North.

The other point worthwhile is that of all of those teams only the Lions played finals last year.

Rebuilding is tough.

My offer is their 1st round + anyone they want off their books for Ports second rounder😂

We were worse than we should have been for a few reasons. North I thought would at least be competitive, however they have the nucleus of a decent team already.

Doubt it. Bit of soul searching this week still reckon top4
25% is on our players. 75% in our coaches.

We've got good players, but some are still being played out of position, and we relay way to much on individual talent and brilliance, rather than having a winning strategy and game plan.

One each of our second and third rounders + future 3rd for Wil Powell (contracted til 2025) and Pick 7-10 if it fell that way? A man can dream, right?

Harley Reid is from Tongala, up near the Murray and 3 hours away from Melbourne. Not too far away from where Noah Long is from (15 to 20 mins) and would've played plenty of footy together (Bendigo Pioneers, Vic Country, local league). So I think he'd be a safe pick.

Wines from same region and remains at Port.

Still think Hawks are in box seat.
