Listening to Gettable on afl.com.au and Twomey's said McGovern and Cripps' deals are all but done.

Guess we won't be getting that late 2nd rounder for Gov as a free agent after all :(
Geez some of you guys really overvalue draft picks.

How can keeping McGovern on be a bad thing, assuming he’s coming cheap.

1 year deal on $500k is fine. Anything more is paying overs.

Eagles players in their 30's with injury history are not great investments.

Don't be surprised if it's a higher figure as Gov I recall took pay cuts to help manage the cap / Hurn's extension.

If it’s one thing we do well, it’s manage our books.

Not worth worrying about for me.

If we were to make a bid for Georgiades the starting point (before we even got to talking about money and contract terms) would be guaranteeing him a spot in the best 22 when fit. You are not going to get somebody who would be best 22 at more than half of the AFL clubs to upend their life and move to your club so they can play for your WAFL side and wait for an injury so they can get a spot in your 22. So if we were to guarantee him a spot where would it be? We already have Darling and Allen in the forward line with Waterman as the 3rd tall. Would we get rid of one of them to make room for him? If Georgiades is dead set in his own mind to play in forward line then, given we are already stocked with forward line talls, is it worth pursuing him since he certainly won't be coming for free? Would he really make a difference in our forward line?

Similar situation with the ruck. No player who is or could be a first choice ruckman at another club is going to want to entertain a conversation about moving to our club whilst Natanui is still on the list. Because they will know that when Natanui is fit they will be relegated to make room for him. It might be different with somebody struggling to find and hold a spot at an AFL list as Hickey was before we picked him up. Beggars can't be choosers. You go wherever you can get a contract in that situation even if it is to be a back up. But if you are good enough to be a first choice ruckman for some clubs at AFL level then, if you choose to leave where you are, you are not going to choose to go to a club where you are not going to be the first choice ruckman.

If they give Cripps and McGovern two year deals after what has hapenned then we have dead set muppets in charge who are afraid of making hard and unpopular decisions and our club won't recover until we get rid of those muppets.

He’s got a very strong opinion on every port trade and it’s always very pro Port…. Don’t even bother arguing with him.

He is a dead set monkey spanker.

So unrealistic and biased with his pro Port distorted valuations of players: those exiting Port being over valued and players coming in to Port worth being undervalued.

All Clubs have there share of coRk head posters, but this bloke is in a league of his own.

Port do seem to have a greater proportion of knob jockeys on Big Footy than most Clubs.

Quick summary from some of the Nab games watched over the weekend early this week.

Sandringham Vs Calder Cannons

Ryley Sanders
continued his strong start to the year with his second solid game in row. 34 touches and a goal. Will play the Academy game hopefully in round 5. Will play for Allies in Nationals.

Will Brown played well gathering 21 disposals to go with his 24 in game one. At 194 cm is a good height for a midfielder when he fills his frame out will be a big unit. Named in Vic Metro squad.

Archie Roberts was amongst the best with 30 disposals as he dominated across half back. Is in the AFL Academy squad and Vic Metro squad.

Harvey Johnson is one to keep an eye on while Charlton Harrop booted 4 goals.

For the Cannons it was a good team spread with Nash King picking up 24 disposals.

Like the looks of key forward Jordan Croft. At 200cm moves well and lays a tackle. Didn’t have a big game on the stats sheet but still stood out. Is in the Vic Country Squad.

GWV Rebels Vs SSFC

Only watched half of the game.

George Stevens playing across half back was very dominant. Picked up 32 touches. Was injured last year but is still part of the AFL Academy squad. Vic country Squad member.

Murray Bushrangers Vs Northern Knights

Nate Caddy
who’s a top 10 prospect played his first game for the year and was solid. Kicked 2.3 a bit better accuracy and he could have had a bag. Played forward so didn’t see him around the midfield. At 192cm is he big enough as a Key Forward at Afl level or a big bodied mid? Certainly attacks the ball. AFL Academy and Vic Metro squads.

Connor O’Sullivan is a 198 cm key Forward who looks impressive in the two games I’ve seen. Very athletic for his size. Kicked 2.1 to go with 16 disposals. AFL Academy and Allies squad member.

Small forward Jesse Dattoli kicked 4 goals and was lively.

Tassie Devils vs Western Jets

Tom Beaumont
had a day out collecting 38 disposals 7 tackles. He’s tough and hard wins it on the inside. Only concern would be his pace.

Colby McKercher gathered 31 disposals. Really nice balanced mid that uses it pretty well. Certainly one to watch. AFL Academy and Allies squad.

Jack Callinan was lively early as a small forward and kicked 3 goals and 19 disposals.

For the Jets Diesel Moloney…. Got to love that name worked hard getting 33 touches to go with 25 in round one. Finds the ball but is on the small side at only 177cm.

Only got to watch about a quarter of the Bendigo game the main thing to note was that Harley Reid had his knee fairly heavily strapped. Didn’t seem to be bothering him much as he was going about his work in his usual way…. Fend off Nab League leader of all time and I don’t even need to check the stats

However it pans out, being able to rebuild in one draft flush with mids and following it up with a draft tipped to be heavy on talls and flankers is quite lucky.

Add in a cheap trade or two and although it’s come at a injury cost, we may have timed this really well.

And before Tassie.

Built the bulk of the 2018 team before GC/GWS decimated the draft too. Got lucky in 2010 though when Gold Coast took our pick 1 and we still got Gaff, Darling, Lycett and McGovern 🤣
