I see the Jamieson to the backline idea trotted out a bit.

I just don't see it.

I have no doubt he could be potentially effective on leading forwards but I have serious doubts he'll ever be able to match AFL level forwards in the 1-1s. Which would be pretty easily exploited.

He's about to turn 23, are we really expecting him to turn into a physical beast in the next 2-3 years?

Bailey W has made the jump from being outmuscled frequently in physical contests to it not being a massive weakness in one year, with room for improvement still. Think there'd still be a jump left in Jamo where he doesn't get ragdolled even if he isn't a beast.

I actually see a bit more priority in being able to keep up in an athletic sense rather than strength wise, HEdwards is big but gets burnt on the lead pace wise by those lanky King/Larkey/Hipwood types. 1-1s in a way are just as often being able to keep up with someone and spoil on the run or even just remove their lead as an option as they are about wrestling in the goalsquare, especially if we do have a Gov or Barrass that are able to come in as third man thanks to Jamo taking a forward they're bad against. Jamo at least physically would match up those guys pretty well and is competitive.

I'm not sold on Jamo wholly to be honest but suppose it's more about what he could be and where we need him. I don't see him overtaking Williams, being a better #1 than Barnett or being a smart enough forward to ruck/fwd. If he's the second ruck and needs another position I think he'd be more suited to back. We have a need for genuine height down there in Jamos age range and the ability to free up a Barrass or potentially Bazzo to intercept more. It also means that if Jamo plays back in WAFL he'll a) likely see more of the ball and b) give Barnett more time as #1 ruck.

Agree with you on the general vibe of not being sold but I'm less sold on the other options for him and given that if it works it's an area of need for us I'm inclined to lean toward 'don't know if we don't try'

Pick 6 is the most likely for TB, but if we got Corey Warner (recently committed to 2025 for swans) as part of that trade would that make people more happy, however unlikely that is?

I do like this line of thinking.

You got to give up something good to get something good back in return.

Sydney have plenty of quality mids and the fact both players are in contract is quite handy as we are talking similar type moves, obviously positionally different.

I would much prefer Warner than any of the projected kids from this cohort at the pick 6 range.

Good speculative suggestion, as you say very unlikely to happen but I like it never the less. 👍

Barrass has looked lost this year when Hurn or Gov hasn't been playing.

I don't know if he holds this backline together if Hurn retires and Gov isn't available.

So I'm not necessarily opposed to trading him if the price is right and we could get in some mature coverage and young talent in that position.

Yes I feel great shame.
It’s interesting what you’re saying because some posters around here are trying to say he will slide because of the Tassie thing but here we are saying he possibly goes top 2.
I’ve rated him highly now ever since his first few talent games and he continues to maintain a high output consistently.

Shuey and Hurn both out sore this week....

I've sat quietly whilst many have frothed over their big influences in a 3.3 (6 shots) to 7.11 (18 shots) second half last week.

But you wouldn't read about it, too sore to play.

WHAT WERE THE CHANCES OF THAT????????????????

LET'S SIGN THEM AS A PACKAGE DEAL NEXT YEAR. THE ONLY WAY WE'LL GET 22 GAMES IS IF WE COMBINE THEM.

Doubt it, North are looking at McKercher even if they had pick 1.

So that makes our pick #1 slightly less valuable (in the sense that Nth would be an unlikely participant in any trade).

However what it does do is potentially open up the Curtain conversation.

‘If’ (this is far from set in stone of course) Curtain were to fall outside of the top 3, any trade for pick 4 onwards (pre bid pick #s used) may look a little different. Firstly as the value is less obviously, but also the team holding that pick may feel they are not that far off competing.

Currently it is Richmond on 26 points, with Adelaide in 7th on 32 points. There is a significant logjam.

Does that mean a Richmond, Sydney, GWS etc would consider our F1st for their 1st in 2023 plus their F1st (them assuming they are not far off the pace)? We probably need to add a 2nd rounder or maybe a player they want - but it isn’t inconceivable.

They should play this week and be rested next week....... Just saying.

Two teams in Sydney.

Both almost at similar stages of development. Giants in a mini rebuild.

Either could play finals next year.

If TB preferred Swans but GWS offered a better deal that wouldn't come into play?
Don't think it would. There's 10 teams in Vic, how many times have we seen a bidding war?

Nor has GWS shown any interest in him, probably because they don't have the cap space as to retain their talent they have to overpay to keep the Vic scavengers at bay.

Question for Monocle WCE_phil AsterixTheGaul as you’ve seen more of Curtin than most

Assuming we finish last and ignore the Vic media campaign to save Harley Reid and draft him with pick one. If the opportunity then presents to trade our F1 to also draft Curtin should we pull the trigger?

Pyke & Cox being at Sydney might be more of an incentive for him to go there, as he'd have history with both, being coaches at WCE when he was picked drafted.
Plus i think the swans are the only team mentioned in these rumours right?
